Coordinator's Update

Hello Amazing Self-Paced Families and Students

It is hard to believe that we are already half way through the first quarter of the school year. The teachers have been working hard to put together a meaningful communication to you regarding how your child is doing in their class as well as updating their PowerSchool gradebooks so you can see their progress. Please take a few minutes to review the communication logs that are going home each week as well as log in to PowerSchool to see how your child is doing.

We are here to help make this year a great one. After reviewing the communication log and PowerSchool, should you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher through email and they would be happy to help answer any questions.

Also, a huge thank you for all of your hard work with the minutes for your child’s attendance. As a reminder, if attendance minutes are not entered for 10 days we will have to withdraw the student from the program just like the brick and mortar schools.

A few important reminders:

* Formative assessments are mandatory and need to be completed in a timely manner.

* Here is the link for you to submit your child's attendance for their workdays.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

AOI Minutes

July 23, 2021

As your child(ren) is/are participating in the Vail Virtual Self-Paced program this year you will be required to complete a parent attestation each day to report how many minutes they worked that day.

At the Vail Innovation Center we are required by the state to collect attendance by submitting the number of minutes each student participates in instructional time daily. The Vail Innovation Center is part of AOI (Arizona Online Instruction) educational entity which has different ways of reporting instructional time. If students are inactive (absent) for 10 or more days consecutively the state guidelines require us to drop students from our program. If we do not have a record of your child's minutes to submit to the state we are required to to withdraw them for non-attendance. This is the same policy as the brick and mortar schools.

Moving forward you will need to submit minutes on the daily form for a minimum of 5 days a week. We have attached the minimum required daily minutes to report your student as a full time student. Some students will do more than the minimum and at times will take longer to complete reading assignments and homework. Please be sure to include all of the time your child works for each day. .

Please use this link to submit the minutes for your child daily. The link to do this will be shared in this newsletter each week, but the link itself is not changing. You can bookmark the link for easy access. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Here is the data that will be needed for the form:

Student First Name:

Student Last Name:

State ID:

Teacher Name:

Date of Instruction:

Number of Minutes:

I look forward to continuing to work with all of you to support your child's educational needs,
