What Starts Here Changes The World...

Lakeside has submitted two grants that you can check out below:

CANNED FODO AND TURKEY DRIVE Nov. 4-15
Please bring canned foods to school beginning next Monday, Nov. 4! Boxes will be placed at the end of each hallway for collection. Third grade homerooms will be collecting and donating the food to the Coppell Lions Club.
The turkey details:
Want to see your favorite teacher dressed up like a turkey?
Leadership team will sell feathers to dress the cold, feather-less turkeys that will be displayed in the hallway beginning Friday, November 1. Feathers purchased will be placed on the grade level turkey of student's choice. The grade level turkey with the most feathers on him by Nov. 15 will WIN. The "winning" grade level or team will then have to wear turkey onesies to school during the last week before Thanksgiving break!
- When: Nov. 4-15
- What: Purchase a turkey feather to place on the turkey body of your choice (a display in the hallway), which becomes a vote for that grade level's teachers to have to WEAR A TURKEY ONESIE at school the week before Thanksgiving Break!
- Where: Purchase feathers for $1 each (cash only) in the cafeteria in the mornings before school, each day from Nov. 4-15.

A really fun idea is for parents to come to school, have lunch with their learner, and then shop at the book fair!
We need volunteers to help our book fair run smoothly! Parents can sign up by clicking on
https://lakesidepto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/57487 or going to LakesidePTO.com and clicking “Book Fair Volunteering” under the “Volunteer” tab.
Also, we are excited to announce Two NEW shopping options! Book Fair eWallet is a safe and convenient digital payment option for your student to shop the Fair cash-free. If you’re not able to attend the Fair, try our new online shopping. We’ve partnered with the Scholastic Store to offer over 6,000 products that ship direct to your home (with free shipping on book-only orders of $25 or more)! We will be sending a flyer home with each student with more information regarding eWallet! You can also visit our homepage to get started:
The book fair is a great way to get books into our learners' hands and support the school. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Thank you so much!!

News you can use...
Safety
Please remember that the Fire Lane should not be used as a "park and enter the building spot."
- We had local officers here during voting and they expressed a concern about cars that parked in the fire lane.
- Additionally, our PK buses use both loops for pickup and drop-off. Cars parked in the fire lane can block their ability to load/unload their kids as safely as possible.
Thank you.
Repeated Information:
Rain Rain Go Away
Rainy day arrival and dismissal can be difficult. Please be sure to plan a little extra time for both drop off and pick up.
- Please keep in mind that the tardy bell rings at 7:40 and any child not in class at that time is counted as tardy.
- Rain coats with hoods are beneficial and will help keep our kids as dry as possible but umbrellas can be more of a hazard when kids try to navigate that along with a jacket, lunch box, and backpack.
- In the event of a REALLY REALLY rainy day dismissal where we keep our kids in the building we will need you to display your car loop sign and wait patiently for us to call for your child and to position them for pickup. Thank you in advance for your assistance on these unique days.
Car Loop and Safety Patrol
As a reminder, I want you to be aware that there are a few times throughout the year when our awesome and dedicated Safety Patrol are not available or able to help with drop off or pickup. In the event that our safety patrol is not on duty then your child will need to be able to exit the car on their own including unbuckling, opening the car door, unloading, and closing the car door. Please practice this with them so they are prepared.
- Please make note of the fact that our Safety Patrol will not be here Monday-Wednesday of this week (11/4,5,6) since they have their Allaso Ranch field trip.
- Safety Patrol will not be on duty during instances of extreme weather (lightning, freezing, etc) or on spring testing days.
Veterans Day
Our annual Veterans Day lunch with a longhorn will take place on November 11th. This year we will be interviewing some of our visiting Veterans and highlighting them during a Lakeside (not so)Live segment. Here is a link to our Veterans Day invitation and preregistration.
In anticipation of this day and everyday in between, I'd like to thank our Veterans for their service!
