Announcements for December 3-7, 2018
Congratulations to Rachel Haley for earning her first National Board Certification. What a great accomplishment. Please let us know if any other staff have received their first or renewal certification that we have not recognized. We want to celebrate this accomplishment with our colleagues.
Holiday Performances: Kindergarten and First Grade have Holiday performances this week on Tuesday, December 4th during specials. Due to this change, please be aware any specials changes and of parents being in the building from 9:30-10:30 and from 1:15-2:15.
K-2 Foundational Literacy Meeting: Please refer to Peggy Blocker's email on 11/30 that stated that on Wednesday, December 5th at 7:45 K-2 will meet in the media center in an effort to complete the mandated county k-2 foundational skills training. We will complete modules 2 & 3 on the agendas sent out to earlier through google drive. If you can't locate these agendas, type in google drive search box k-2 foundational skill teachers agenda and it should pop up. If you haven't already make a copy of this and add it to your drive. See PEGGY if you need help. Please bring your laptops with the agenda pulled up and your letterland manuals. 3rd-5th should use this time for PLT planning and EL prep.
PUE Chorus Auditions for Pieces of Gold: The Pleasant Union Chorus will audition for acceptance in the Spring Pieces of Gold Extravaganza. Best wishes to them this Wednesday, December 5th when they audition at the Sanderson High School auditorium at 6:17. Thank you to Peggy Freer, music teacher for preparing the students before and after school for the event. Thank you also goes out to behind the scenes help from Heather Shipley and Kayla Perry with outfit preparation and Maranda Nussbaum with "crowd control" at the audition.
Holiday Shop: Holiday Shop begins this week. If you haven't signed up your class to visit, please do so ASAP. Please thank the PTA volunteers that have set up and run the shop- it is a lot of work and it is all to support PUE.
Regional Walkthroughs: The Regional Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Kinsey-Barker, Special Assistant Leigh Ann Alford-Keith will join members of our Intervention Team to join classrooms throughout the building on Wednesday, December 5th beginning at 12:30 PM. Sorry for timing but, due to the original walkthrough being cancelled they only had one date left to visit. As with all Walkthroughs, the team is wanting to talk with students about what activity is being done, how and why it is being done, how ties to the standards, overall engagement through accountable talk, hands on strategies, use of 4Cs, technology and last but not least classroom climate.
United Way Campaign: The United Way Campaign continues underway for WCPSS employees. The campaign runs from November 7th through December 12th. Please consider making a pledge today through the email you received with your personal link. Any support is appreciated.
PUE Holiday Party: The PUE Holiday party is Thursday, December 6th at CHOW off of Creedmoor Road. Make sure to RSVP by Monday if you are coming, and we hope to see you there!
