Mrs. Ciminera's Weekly Update
Week of May 8th
I feel like time keeps going faster and faster as we get closer to the end of the year! In just a few short weeks we will be having our closing ceremonies in Kindergarten and 8th grades. We have a fun last month planned, most especially for our amazing 8th graders! With so many things happening, please never hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. We are all in this together!
While the end of the year is quickly approaching, it is still very important that all students continue to come to school in proper uniforms each day! Dress down passes are not allowed to be used more than once a week. School shoes should be worn each day, unless there is an issue that we are aware of. Students socks should be white or navy blue, except on gym day they may wear any socks they wish. I know things are busy and some days you are rushing trying to find all the uniform pieces, but it is imperative that students are in their uniforms each day. Thank you for ensuring this happens.
We had an absolutely beautiful First Holy Communion on Saturday. I am so proud of our 2nd graders and so grateful to Miss Maloney and Mrs. Wesner for all of their hard work in preparing them for this beautiful day.
We also had a beautiful May Procession on Monday. Thank you to all who joined us.
This Friday, our 3rd graders will present their wax museum at 9:30am. Our PreK students will have a Mothers Day tea at 10:00am. Please also be mindful there is a viewing and funeral in the Church. There will most likely be many cars on campus on Friday morning. But, we are in for a very special morning!
Attached to this email is a letter from Mrs. Coll, our school nurse, with some friendly reminders about physicals and doctor's notes. When your child is absent for more than 3 days, we MUST have a doctors note, if not, it will be considered unexcused.
6th to 8th graders are invited to SCJN's annual Floor Hockey night next Friday, May 19! This has been a longstanding tradition at SCJN and it is personally one of my favorites. Unfortunately this year, we are limiting it to 6th to 8th graders only. The floor hockey parents are working on a plan to bring back 5th grade next year, but for this year we are only able to accomodate 6th to 8th graders. Thank you for understanding! And a special thank you to the Voegeles, Lythgoes and Reynolds for organizing a fun event for the kids!
Our Dance a Thon is right around the corner on Thursday, May 25! There is a flyer in the Forms section and a hard copy was sent home with your child. Thank you in advance for your support of SCJN!! It is going to be a super fun day!
Some of our awesome 7th graders were so inspired with Lily Walker's visit, that they decided they want to do a bake sale to raise money for brain cancer research during this month of May. Next Tuesday, May 16, we will have a bake sale to raise money for brain cancer research. See attached flyer for more information.
Chick Fil A orders for Monday, May 15 are due tomorrow by 11:59pm! Thank you for supporting the 8th grade.
All canned goods for our food drive are due this Friday, May 12! Thank you so much for all of your support!
Field Day will be here before we know it!! Field Day will be Monday, June 12! Please sign up here if you are able to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a4fa4a628a2fe3-scjn/100002844#/
It will definitely be a fun morning! Field day on June 12 is for 1st to 8th grade. PreK and K have separate field days before their closing days.
How about those Sixers? In celebration and preparation, we will have a Sixers (or red, white, and blue) dress down day tomorrow!! Sorry for the last minute notice!
I want to wish a very happy Mother's Day to all of our fabulous SCJN moms. I hope you know how grateful we are for all of you! I hope your kids spoil you on Sunday and that you all get time to relax! Thank you for being such AMAZING MOMS! Have an awesome week!

We wouldn't be the wonderful school community we are without each of you and your ongoing support.

Reminders and Important Information
- The next Social Justice project will be done to support the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. This group is based in Havertown, PA, and is focused on the preservation and promotion of Irish Roman Catholic Culture. One of their main objectives is to volunteer their time and talent to perform community service for those in need. This is a great opportunity for the students at SCJN to support Pope Francis’ belief that the more fortunate have an obligation to help the poor! The donated food will be given to local food banks in both Delaware and Philadelphia Counties. All canned goods are due by Friday, May 12.
-Please sign below if you are able to help in the kitchen at all. You can email Kathy Del Pizzo at lunch@scjnschool.org if they have any questions. We need someone to run the kitchen on the following days May 16, May 17, May 31 Thank you!!
