Recently, important changes were made to the SEL Benchmarks, including an emphasis on Adult SEL Competencies. As stated in the introduction, "Adult indicators are provided first, prior to early elementary, because strong adult SEL competencies among all adults in the school community provide the foundation for young people’s competency development."
An additional and important note is the statement that the SEL indicators "are not meant to be used for diagnostic purposes, to grade student performance, or as a justification for exclusionary or punitive practices." SEL is never mastered. We continue to develop and refine these competencies into adulthood.

Educator Wellness Through Yoga, Mindfulness & Sound Bath
Join us for this rejuvenating Educator Wellness Experience with Megan Hook on January 26th @ 4 PM. This two hour wellness event for teachers offers yoga, mindfulness and a restorative sound bath. We will begin by centering and cultivating mindfulness, gratitude, and a sense of community. There will be yoga for everyBODY: stretching and loosening, moving stuck energy, increasing vitality in the body, and expanding the breath. Come as you are, modifications will be offered. The event will end with a long sound bath, designed to foster deep relaxation and rest. You can check out Megan on Insight Timer.
Book Study~ Belonging: The Science of Creating Connection & Bridging Divides
The times we are living in are enormously divided. We also know that 1 in 5 Americans suffers from chronic loneliness. How did we get here? And what might we do about it? Without even realizing it, we can act in ways that threaten someone else's sense of belonging. And it happens to us as well. Small acts that establish connection can have huge impact. This book and the collaborative conversations will explore this topic and what we can do about it. We will meet via Zoom for 5 sessions. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own book. There will be an initial reading in preparation for the first session.

School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. This training is designed to fulfill that requirement. The following upcoming meetings are scheduled in MLP:
