Digital Citizenship 101
High School Technology Teachers join us August 1st at 10 am
Digital citizenship is the norms of appropriate, responsible technology
Did you know: Nearly 62 percent of children worldwide have had a negative experience online & nearly four in ten involved serious situations. 74% of kids active on social networks say they’ve found themselves in unpleasant situations alone, while additional surveys found that nearly eight in ten have witnessed acts of meanness or cruelty on Facebook, Google+ or other similar services. Making sure your students learn the rules of online etiquette, social media conduct and personal boundaries will be taught in this workshop.
New Hanover County High School Technology Teachers
Teachers will learn the county technology rules and policies that will be put in place for the upcoming school year. Teachers will also learn about internet safety so you can education your students on online safety. The workshop will review the following:
No Cell Phone Policy
Every student in the class has to place their cell phone phone on silent and put it away or turn it off and put it away. It is very disrespectful to be interrupted by a ringing cell phone or someone not paying attention to your presentation because they are busy texting so this policy has been put in place for technology courses countywide.
Online Safety
The workshop will inform teachers how to teach students about online etiquette, social media conduct and personal boundaries.
Prevention
Teachers will discuss how to talk to students so they can protect themselves from cyberbullying, cyberstalking and sex trafficking
Guaranteed to be a great learning experience!
Remember:
Responsible technology will prepare our students and show our students how to be responsible with their digital citizenship!
