Notes from Principal Klueppel...
STUDENT PICTURE DAY
Picture day has been postponed until Spring. We will share additional details when they become available.
CURRICULUM NIGHT
Typically we invite families to come into school to hear from their child's teacher about what to expect this year with regards to curriculum and instruction. Unfortunately, we won't be able to invite you into BG this year. However, we feel strongly about the purpose of Curriculum Night so we have found a creative way to keep families informed about the learning their children will be participating in this year.
Just like all of you, the staff and I are sad that we won't get to see you all in person for Curriculum Night. We feel confident this virtual format will still meet both yours and our expectations for Curriculum Night.
IN-PERSON LEARNERS:
Teachers will work as grade level teams this year to share curricular content. Meaning, you will receive a presentation this is co-facilitated by all members of the grade level. We feel strongly that this supports consistency in messages and reinforces how closely our teachers will be working together this year.
On Tuesday September 8, at 6pm, all teachers will send out their presentation to parents in their homeroom. Parents will have until Thursday September 10, to view the presentation before participating in a virtual Q & A session with their child's teacher.
On Thursday September 10, each classroom teacher will host two 20min, virtual Q & A sessions for their parents. This is similar to the, "Are there any questions?" part of our typical in-person Curriculum Nights. Some teachers may choose to send home a document prior to Sept. 10, to collect questions while others will "open the floor" to questions during the Zoom or Googlemeet. Please remember, these questions should be about curriculum and instruction. If you have questions related to safety, cleanliness, or process/procedures related to Covid-19, please pass those questions along to me and I would be happy to chat with you.
REMOTE LEARNERS:
Your child's teacher will send out a presentation for you to view this week. This presentation will address curricular content and instructional practices, just like a tradition Curriculum Night in-person presentation. Then, your child's teacher will host a Q & A session for parents to ask questions related to curriculum and instruction.
- Tuesday September 8, K-2
- Thursday September 10, 3-5
Your child's teacher will provide you with more details about exact times. Each classroom teacher will virtual Q & A sessions for their parents. This is similar to the, "Are there any questions?" part of our typical in-person Curriculum Nights. Some teachers may choose to send home a document prior to Sept. 8 & 10, to collect questions while others will "open the floor" to questions during the Zoom or Googlemeet. Please remember, these questions should be about curriculum and instruction. If you have questions related to other topics, please reach out to me directly and I would be happy to chat with you.

From the Nurse
Greetings from the Health office!
Thank you for certifying your children by 7:30 am every morning. It really helps the arrival process go quickly and get our students to class on time!
Please get your Health forms in! Kindergarten and new students to Illinois need up to date immunization records and an Illinois Physical, Dental and Eye exam on file. ALL 2nd graders need a dental exam (done in the last 18 months) on file.
This year we are following the Illinois Department Of Public Health (IDPH) Covid-19 Exclusion Guidelines. See Below. This requires that when a child has any of the symptoms (noted below) stay home or be sent home. ANY siblings who reside in the same household, who attend D303 schools, need to stay home as well. Once the student, with the symptoms, has the documentation required all family members can return to school. It is up to the parents to provide this information to all the schools involved.
Please call the Health office 331-228-2104 or Email leeanna.anzaldi@d303.org with any questions or concerns.
Items Forgotten at Home
Please understand that an item that is dropped off for a student has to be handled by others before the student ultimately receives it. In an effort to mitigate germ exposure, we discourage dropping off forgotten items unless absolutely necessary. This is an opportunity to practice accountability.
Self Certification by 7:30 AM
Dear BG Families,
In a continuing effort to keep staff and students safe while also keeping arrival quick and efficient, please have your child certified in the computer by 7:30 am. This will ensure that students are not entering the classrooms before they are cleared. Certifying your child is both filling out the online form AND signing their backpack tag. If one or both of these steps are not done your child will be sent to the front of the building to check in. Once there, they will have their temperature taken and a phone call will be made to parents to fill out the online form. When their certification is verified they can enter the building. If you enter the online form after 7:30 am your child may have to go through this verification process before they can enter the building.
Thank you for all of your help and taking the extra steps to ensure everyone's safety.
