Principal Young's News:

Dear TEAM Vista,

I hope you all are not too tired as we have "Sprung Forward" one hour. Don't forget to turn your clocks one hour ahead.

As we prepare for our Spring Dance on Friday, March 24th, all students will be wearing something uniformed with their entire grade level, based on their grade level song and theme.

Kindergarten: 50's attire from 50's day

1st grade: anything disco, but no gogo boots

2nd grade: white shirt, blue jeans & bandana

3rd grade: tie dye; everything 70's

4th grade: neon shirt, neon cap worn on the side & blue jeans

5th grade: bright colored shirt (any color) & blue jeans

6th grade: black shirt and black pants

Please remember to pick your student up on time at dismissal. The office staff should not be watching students, after school. This is a safety concern as they have meetings, work to accomplish, and if there was an emergency such as an earthquake, the office staff should not be in charge of students. Thank you for your support with this.

Vista Parents and Guardians, we need your help with the staff parking lot. Please do NOT park in staff parking spots during drop off, pick up, or during the school day. Each staff member has an assigned parking spot. There are only 5 visitor spots available. Please use the street for parking if a visitor spot is unavailable.

Warmly,

Principal Young

Reminders:

Sandals/Open-Toed Shoes & Pajamas to School:

Please do not send your child to school in open-toed shoes or sandals. There have been quite a few injuries when students wear sandals or open-toed shoes to school. Also, students should not wear pajamas to school, UNLESS it is a Pajama Day.

Cough and/or Fever & Returning to School Protocol:

Please remember, if your student has a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, and/or loss of taste and/or smell, our District's COVID protocol requires a negative COVID test in order to return to school. Please email a picture of the negative test to our office clerk, Mrs. Heide at heiderose.schoenmank@simivalleyusd.org.

Cooler Weather in the Forecast: As the weather gets cooler these next months ahead, please make sure your child has a sweatshirt, sweater, or jacket for school. The early mornings can be chilly when students arrive to school and the wind seems to change throughout the day.

Lost & Found News: Please LABEL all of your child's sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, backpacks and lunch bags. We have quite a collection of LOST items that are located at the front of the school, outside of the office. After 3 weeks of collecting LOST items, we will be making a donation to a local charity organization as it is just too many LOST items that do not get picked up. Please stop by the front of the office and check the Lost & Found rack.

Neighbors and Trash:

It has been brought to my attention by a few neighbors that a lot of trash is accumulating at the sidewalks and front yards of neighbors' houses. Please help keep the neighborhood clean by throwing away your garbage. Thank you!

Daily Attendance:

Please call the school office at (805) 520-6750 to report your child's absence. Parents and guardians have up to 5 days to report their student's absence, otherwise, the absence becomes a truancy/unexcused absence.

School Start Time and Gates:

Our gates open at 7:40 a.m. each day.

Students eating breakfast can enter the front gate of the school starting at 7:35 a.m.

The first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Teachers and students should be at their classroom line by the 7:55 a.m. bell.

The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. If students enter the gates after 8:00 a.m., they will be considered tardy.

*Starting these healthy life habits of being on time, sets your student up for success.
