THROUGHOUT THE YEAR we honor Black civic engagement and celebrate Black literature in the classroom.
Alamo Education Fund
Every year, the Alamo Education Fund typically hosts an in person gala to raise critical funds for our children. The funds we raise support valuable programs at our school such as paraprofessionals, an intervention teacher, an instructional reading assistant, an art teacher, a music and chorus teacher and a band teacher. Due to COVID-19, we had to cancel our in person auction but this doesn’t mean we have to cancel the critical funds we raise! Volunteers on our silent auction committee have been busy for months collecting incredible items for our online auction and we hope to raise $12,500! This year’s Online Silent Auction will run March 8th-March 16th. Keep your eyes peeled for a CampusMessenger email on Monday, March 8th with a link to the below fabulous offerings, and more, and shop the auction because every little bid supports our kids! Together, we can reach our goal!
Here’s a sneak peek of just a few items:
*Explore Kids Athletics: Swim from Splash Swim School, Soccer from Bulldog Soccer, Dance from Ace and The Dancer's Institute, Horse riding from Horizons East Show Stables, and semi private or private tennis lessons with PE Teacher Mr Cherry!
*Add an autographed MLB baseball of SF Giants Mike Yastrzemski or former Oakland A's Khris Davies to your collection!
*Stock up on Grocery Gift Cards: Safeway, Sprouts, Lunardi's, Costco, Lucky's, and more!
*Enjoy Winery & Distillery Tours and Golf Outings!
*Pamper yourself with beauty products from Rodan+Fields or jewelry from Kendra Scott!
*Quilts Featuring the Artwork of Our Alamo School Students: Have a peek at these adorable quilts that will be available on our Online Silent Auction! San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF) Celebrate Innovation In Education
The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation Major Gifts and Endowment Fund will host its first Virtual "Celebrate Innovation in Education" event on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 6pm. Proceeds from this event support our Major Gifts and Endowment Fund for long-term innovative, educational programs.
Every year at this event, SRVEF honors a community leader or organization for their outstanding service and support of education in SRVUSD. This year's honoree is Michael Barnard, owner of Rakestraw Books in Danville. Michael is a community champion for reading in the San Ramon Valley and beyond. His iconic independent bookstore serves as a beacon for readers and authors who regularly come to share their writing experiences and new ideas. The Rakestraw newsletter is a valuable resource for all the community providing diverse voices of authors and readers.
Please join us in celebrating Michael on February 25th!
PTA
I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. I wanted to remind you that the PTA is looking for people to join us! There is a misconception out there that PTA parents aren’t working parents and that we have tons of extra time on our hands. We don’t! Most of us work, and obviously we are all doing some SERIOUS multi-tasking as we continue to support Remote and Hybrid learning for our own kids! We volunteer for the PTA because we care about our kids, we care about the school they attend and the community, and we support the people who educate them. If you would like to learn more about our PTA, the people who volunteer for it and what we do for Alamo School, please join us for our General Association Meeting- March 25, 4:00pm. You can also contact Nicole Rocca, mom of 3, Pediatric Nurse AND PTA Board Parliamentarian for more information: nicolerocca@gmail.com We hope to be fully back in school in the Fall and have so many fun things to make up for and to plan for!
A special thank you to Jenn Hoffman for staff appreciation magic and to all staff for their hard work and dedication throughout this tumultuous year. We appreciate all of you and all you do.
