A Message from Mrs. Barnes
When we return in January, it will be time to look at how much our students have grown with our Middle of the Year Benchmark assessments. We will assess students in the following ways:
- Perception Data through Panorama
- Reading Skills and Comprehension for Grades K-3 through iStation
- Reading Skills and Comprehension for Grades 3-5 through NWEA MAP
- Math Skills for Grades K-5 through NWEA MAP
Due to iStation being new this year, student grow will be measured from the Middle of the Year to the End of the Year.
What did our data look like at the Beginning of the Year?
See below for information under each chart.
We'd also love to get your feedback outside of a survey. If you are interested in participating in a focus group of parents, please contact Dr. Brayton Leonhardt at BraytonLeonhardt@johnston.k12.nc.us. He will be facilitating and opportunity for discussion.
It's hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the school year. We had our challenges this year but we've also had some wonderful successes!

Student Perception Data
iStation
When looking at student ISIP scores, we want them to fall in Level 3, 4, or 5. You can see that we started the year with the following percentage of students at or above Level 3:
Kindergarten 23%
First Grade 33%
Second Grade 58%
Third Grade 46%
Again, the BOY scores will not be used to determine growth for our K-3 students. Students also have the opportunity to take this assessment monthly so that we can better monitor their growth and their individual needs.

I want to also give a big shout out to our PTA for all of the work they did to facilitate the Bulldog Run this year. THANK YOU ALL!
