DARE
All 6th graders will be starting DARE after winter break. DARE stands for drug abuse resistance education. Students will learn about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol, bullying, peer pressure, and many other important topics. Our DARE officer, Officer Nadgwick comes every Wednesday and spends 45 minutes with each class. This lasts 10 weeks and then we will end with a DARE graduation! We will send more details about this when it gets closer.
What's to come next week...
Math: We've been working on finding area of triangles. When we get back from break we will start finding area of parallelograms.
Reading: We will be reviewing skills such as theme, main idea, author's purpose and more when we get back!
Writing: We will be drafting a compare and contrast essay when we come back from break. Students will pick two different people or things to find similarities and differences for.
Social Studies: We will be starting Unit 2 in social studies. We will be learning about the Maya, Aztec, and Inca cultures.
