Leader in Me
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Let’s choose to be PROACTIVE with our words.
Making this choice can help to change your whole day!
Choose:
- "I can try" instead of "I cannot"
- "I will" to replace "I have to"
- "I choose" to help change the mindset from "there is nothing I can do"
Counselor Corner
Welcome back to school virtually! I want all parents and students to know that I am available to meet with them either on a Google Meet or in person. I have a virtual office set up which is linked to each teacher’s classroom and also available on our school website under School Counselor Corner. Things in my office are: forms, resources, info about me, guidance lessons, contact info, etc. 1st lesson is on Meeting the Counselor. Can’t wait to hear from you!
In my virtual office, I have my guidance lesson for the week which is Meet the Counselor. There is an activity in there to show all the ways the school counselor can help students. Ways the counselor helps is talking with students about their feelings, lessons on friendships, conflicts, etc. Right now with students not coming into school and being around classmates, they start becoming anxious. Below is a link if helping to cope if you are feeling anxious. Additionally, in my virtual office, I have a referral form so I can meet with students. Please contact me if you need me to talk with your child.

WHAT IS PATRIOTS DAY?
National Day of Service and Remembrance: Patriot Day
Patriot Day on September 11th honors the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims whose lives were cut short in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Each year Americans dedicate this day to remembering those who died and to the first responders who risked their own lives to save others.
We Remember
For many, September 11, 2001, began like any other weekday. We made our way to work. Children attended school. We shopped, grabbed a coffee, waited in line at a drive-thru for breakfast. Those of us who weren’t in New York City heard the first reports on the radio or television. Maybe it was friend or neighbor that alerted us to a plane flying into one of the Twin Towers. We felt disbelief and wondered if it was an accident. Then, a second plane flew into the second tower and we realized this was no accident but an attack on our beautiful United States. We then found out that there were two more planes used, one to fly into the Pentagon and the other went down in a field in Pennsylvania after the brave passengers took the plane back before it could be flown over the city towards the White House.
Memorial
Every year since that fateful day, the United States comes together to remember the fallen. We remember the first responders that put themselves in harms way to save others. We remember those who in the towers working like any other day, and those on the planes that were taken over as well as those on United Flight 93 that bravely took the plane back and stopped those trying to cause more harm. Since that day, memorials have risen from the ashes all over our great Nation and we are proud to remember and honor those amazing heroes!
What is Grandparents Day
On the first Sunday after Labor Day we celebrate National Grandparents Day. This year the date falls on September 13. Like Mother’s day and Father’s day we also have a whole day dedicated to our grandparents. Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to both make grandparents live longer, and also make children more emotionally resilient. Grandparents Day is an opportunity to treasure that connection and spend some quality family time together.
