Hawthorn's DEIB Council consisting of parents, students, and staff held its first meeting earlier this week. We had a lot of great conversation and the time was spent getting to know one another a bit better. This team will be responsible for determining action steps needed in order to help everyone feel a sense of belonging within our school community.

Adrian Ortner, Park Hill's teacher of the visually impaired, was recently recognized as being a Park Hill STAR. Watch the short video below to see what makes Mrs. Ortner so special!

Coming Soon...

Hawthorn PTA will be hosting our 2nd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Thursday, October 19th from 6p - 8p on the school parking lot. Dress up in your Halloween best, trick-or-treat and grab a quick dinner from the Sanchos Streetside truck. To make the event a success, we'd LOVE your help. Check out the sections below for more information on candy/trinket donations, trunk participant sign-up, trick-or-treat participant sign-up.

Trunk Participants

Please sign up <here> if you'd like to host a trunk for the event. All cars must be parked by 5:45p to ensure student safety. Please ensure trunk themes are K-5 student-friendly. Hawthorn PTA's hope is that we will receive enough candy/monetary donations to cover all trunks.

Candy/Trinket/Monetary Donations

If you'd love to help but can't commit to hosting a trunk, please consider a candy or trinket donation to one of our Candy Monsters located in the school entryway near the Media Center. If you'd rather Hawthorn PTA do the shopping, please make a monetary donation via Cheddarup LINK or Venmo.

Do You Speak A Different Language?

We partner with Argo Telephonic Translation Services to help us better communicate with families that speak a language other than English. We can set up an interpreter during parent conferences in addition to using a translator during phone calls. If you, or someone you know would benefit from this service, please let your child's teacher know, or contact Mrs. Renton.

Nominate a Staff Member for the Park Hill STAR Award

Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.

That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee. Anyone can nominate an employee for this award by using the form below. It asks you to share how your nominee demonstrates our district values of continuous improvement, high expectations, integrity, visionary leadership and student focus. You can also share how your nominee supports the goals in our district’s strategic plan.
