If you are interested, or know someone else with an interesting career who would be interested, please click on the link here [] or fill out the information below and have your student return this form to their core teacher or to the school office by Friday, March 1, 2019. You will then be contacted with further details. Questions or more info, email:

Sequoia Drama:

On January 23rd at 7 p.m we have our Drama II students performing Into The Woods, Jr. in the Multi-Use Room.

All tickets are $5/adult and $3/student. Refreshments will be served for an additional charge.

CJSF is an organization for 7th& 8th graders with good grades and citizenship. Applications will be available for pick up in the B-side office beginning January 11th. Students must fill out the application, attach their report card, with comments, and turn into room D-6, Ms. Montoya by January 24th.

CJSF meets on Thursdays from 2:45-3:30. Our first meeting will be on January 24 in room D-6. We will be electing officers during the first meeting. If a student qualifies but cannot come to our Thursday meetings, they should apply anyway and become an inactive member. Our main focus is to do service projects and have fun together. Students considering applying should check out the display case by the B-side of the office to get an idea of the type of projects we work on.

8th Grade Parent Ad in 2019 Yearbook:

8th grade parents can purchase an ad for their child to commemorate their last year at Sequoia. The cost of the color ad is $35 and includes a photo and a message from the parents. There are two ways you can purchase your ad:

  1. You can submit your information online, design your own ad and pay by credit card (see attached flier).
  2. You can also submit your information directly to room E-5 or Mrs. Amerson’s box in the office using this checklist:

o Photos (Do NOT physically cut your photos). We will electronically scan your photos. If you want to focus on just one area of a photo, use Post-It Notes to cover the unwanted areas.

o Text (maximum of 25 words)

o If you would like your photo returned to you in June, include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your order.

o Please write your name and address on the back of the photo submitted. Although it is rare for the yearbook staff to misplace a photo, it can happen. Help make sure your photo is returned to you by taking this extra step.

o Cash or check payable to “SMS”.

The deadline to turn in the information is Friday, December 21, 2018. Fliers are available in room E-5 from Mrs. Amerson. If you have any questions, please leave a message for Mrs. Amerson at 682-8000 ext. 5675 or email questions to

Character Ed/Counseling Corner

Sequoia Strong Character Trait for January: Honesty

We all know honesty means being loyal and trustworthy. However, this month we are trying to further open students’ minds to the concept that being honest with oneself is the ultimate goal. This means being honest with others about who you are, what you want, and what you need to live your most authentic life. We are bringing light to the idea that above all, honesty is one of the easiest things you can practice in order to be happy, successful, and fulfilled. Many students tell us they want “real” friends, not fake ones. Honesty is the perfect concept for promoting this idea. Honesty with oneself, through your daily actions is the way to create “real” honest relationships.
