Principal Message
Parents,
YOLO, You Only Live Once, will be the message this week! We are excited to kick off Red Ribbon Week for our staff, students, and families. We are talking about taking their leadership beyond goals by discussing healthy choices in life and finding their voice to say "NO" to the choices and products that can hurt or hinder their best selves. Help us bring awareness to YOLO!
During this week, we are dressing up to match the statements we want our kids to make as leaders:
Monday: Be Proactive by wearing RED to kick-off the week
Tuesday: Begin With The End In Mind- Think if your favorite college or your FUTURE college and wear your favorite college team jersey or college colors.
Wednesday: Turn Your Back on Drugs and make a statement by wearing your clothes and/or hats backwards
Thursday: Don't Get Mixed Up in Bad Choices- You can wear mismatched clothes
Friday: Sharpen the Saw, wear Tuscany Spirit gear
We look forward to ending this celebration and choice in life with our annual Bike Rodeo! Get your bikes ready!
We will also host our 2nd annual round of Learning Labs. Our labs occurred for the first time last year in place of school clubs for students. These are rotations during the instructional day to support various trades, careers, sports, hobbies, etc. We like for parents and community members to sign up to share their expertise in a specific area. These are great opportunities for students to learn! See the flyer below and let your child's teacher(s) know if you can help us on this day. Last year, we had Dr. Gottardy and Congressman Will Hurd here as well as adults teaching cooking, sign language, martial arts, and so much more. We look forward to having you here on campus with us!!
If you are or know someone that is a firefighter, nurse, baker, and/or chef, please have them contact me, 210-407-8200. We are gearing up for Learning Labs and these are careers some of our grade levels are looking for to add to the instruction on their grade levels.
Here's to a great FALL!
Thank you,
Tara Bailey

Middle School Magnet Nights
The Magnet Schools always visit our campuses but they are also hosting parent nights. See the info below:
Middle School Magnet Nights are targeted at 5th grade parents to provide them with information about our middle school magnet programs. Our goal is to provide parents the opportunity to see our presentations, visit with magnet school staff members and ask the specific questions they have about each of our programs.
Some frequently asked questions:
· Can they attend more than one of the Middle School Magnet Nights? Yes, the events are open to anyone who wants to come; however, the presentations will be the same each of the five nights.
· When is the deadline to apply? The deadline to apply is January 25, 2017. The first set of notifications will go out on January 27, 2017.
· Can a student apply for more than one program? Yes. We frequently have students who apply for all three magnet schools. If selected for more than one program, the student and their parent will have to choose which program they wish to attend.
· Why is STEM not listed? They have chosen to do on campus visits to recruit this year. If parents have questions, please direct them to Dr. Alcala, Director, or Mrs. Jensen, Assistant Director at STEM.
· Where can the parents get more information? Send them to our websites listed at the bottom of the email blast or they can call either one of us.
