Upcoming Middle School Sessions
Region 7 Education Service Center
June 21 - Middle School Science- Organisms and the Environment
In this session, participants will address Category 4, organisms and their environment, from grades 6-8. We will breakdown the TEKS and look at data and released items. Teachers will also engage in activities that address those standards and promote critical thinking.
July 19 and 20 - Science Academies for Grades 5-8 (Part 2 - Force, Motion & Energy)
Experience a total immersion into the Category 2 TEKS for grades 5-8 during this two day professional development. Participants will explore hands-on, student-centered lessons framed in the research-based 5E instructional model. These sessions provide connections to and strengthen participants' knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and Response to Intervention (RtI).
August 7 - Writing to Learn Across Content
Writing is not an option - but a necessity! Cross content writing makes information relevant and meaningful. This session will examine multiple strategies for what Harvey Daniels calls his “Write to Learns” for secondary ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies teachers. This is not about writing essays and research papers, but about providing a “window into how smart people think” (Daniels)! Join us for some WTLs that will make your instruction even more powerful.
