PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES - NEXT WEEK - PLEASE READ
To Our Chartwell Community:
It was brought to our attention during the monthly parent tea last night, that communications from the school around next week’s Parent-Teacher Conferences have not been sufficiently timely or clear. For that, we apologize.
Our parent conferences are an important and valuable part of Chartwell’s program and involve teachers, student support specialists, administrators, and families. At the high school level, they also include the student. Scheduling this individual time with over 140 families is not possible while school is in session so adjustments are made to accommodate these important meetings.
We realize the schedule change was not explicitly stated and so we will support families if the schedule poses a hardship or inconvenience for you. Instructions for accessing this support are listed below per division.
Please read the below information and be sure to schedule your conferences. If you have questions, please reach out to your Division Director: Jodi Amaditz (Lower and Middle School) or Jeff Morton (High School).
LOWER AND MIDDLE SCHOOL CONFERENCES
Wednesday, September 29 - Friday, October 1
Half days with dismissal at 12:00 pm, Wednesday-Friday
If this schedule poses a hardship for your family, please email Head of School Kate Mulligan at kmulligan@chartwell.org to coordinate extended daycare on campus.
Parent Conference Sign-ups were sent to parents earlier this week. Parents have the option of choosing between a Zoom conference or an on-campus conference.
LMS faculty are building the schedule on Friday afternoon at our faculty meeting to ensure that as many teachers and related services staff as possible can attend each conference. Teachers will send out the times for each conference to parents by Monday afternoon.

First Wednesday Community Coffee - Parent Coffee ON CAMPUS with Bella Bee Coffee
Reminder: Masks Required On Campus
All students on campus need to wear a mask that fully covers their nose and mouth at all times, except during lunch or snack time while seated with their colored cohort or advisory group. High school students can request a mask break outside as long as they are at least six feet away from the nearest person.
Reminders about masks, although they should not need to happen, do occur at times. If a student needs reminders from adults:
- First time, the student will be given a warning.
- Second time, parents/guardians will be informed and the student will miss a morning recess to discuss why mask requirements are not being followed and to come up with a plan to be successful.
- Team meeting with parents and teachers to ensure mask requirements are being followed at school.
For students whose masks do not meet these guidelines, we may provide them with a disposable mask at school until the family can obtain appropriate masks.

CHARTWELL HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES
HS Field Experience - Tomorrow!
The high school will take a community-building trip to the Del Monte Mall tomorrow, Friday, September 24. We have secured a theater for our private use for a screening of Free Guy (PG-13). Please pick your student up at the theater at 12:30 pm.
Teachers will be heading back to Chartwell no later than 12:45 pm. If you plan to let your student stay at the mall without our teachers being present, you must communicate that to your advisor; an email is sufficient.
High School Robotics Program for Chartwell Students
Is your high schooler interested in marketing and design? Entrepreneurship? Engineering or coding? Game strategy? All of these skills and more can be learned and practiced in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), and Chartwell students have the opportunity to join a community team that will practice mainly on our campus. Click here for a video about FRC.
Plus Ultra Robotics was founded in 2018 as a not-for-profit community team supported by Apple, DeWalt, Disney and FIRST - along with other local sponsors. We have competed in several qualifying and championship events, which involves building and coding a DIY robot to be remotely controlled on a field the size of a basketball court. During the preseason, until January, we are looking for new teammates from Chartwell. No experience is necessary, just interest, passion and dedication.
Practices will be primarily on Saturdays from 9:30am until 4pm. Students can join right away and would be helping mentor our FIRST Lego League Challenge and Explore teams at Chartwell, and learning tools and skills needed for the competitive season ahead. After kickoff in January, a frenzied but fun 6-week build season begins with longer practice hours, and teams across the globe will all be working on the same game strategies for a qualifying competition in March.
