Think Different #111
Resources for the Week of Jan 13, 2020
Best new resource of 202! You ABSOLUTELY MUST get a Copy!!
This is now the SIXTH year Jennifer has put out the Teacher’s Guide to Tech, and she says with full confidence that this one is the best so far. I totally agree, it is simply amazing. I teach a technology class on campus and online to pre-service teachers and this guide is making me rethink and resdesign numerous items in my course.
With over 350 tools in over 50 different categories, this is the resource you need to quickly make smart decisions about the technology you choose for your classroom.
Oh my gosh, it is AMAZING and worth every penny of the Teacher Pay Teachers price.
WHERE TO GET YOUR COPY
- Single-User Licenses: If you just want a copy for yourself, you can get a copy at Teachers Pay Teachers or on Teachable.
"Your single-user license gives you permission to use this document for yourself and your classroom only. You may keep electronic or paper copies of this document in multiple places for your own use or student use: on your home computer, school computer, personal devices, and student-accessible devices. You may make photocopies of individual pages for classroom use."
- Multi-User Licenses: To get the guide for your team, school, or even district, you can save a lot by getting multi-user licenses. I offer the deepest discounts for these on Teachable.
I bought my copy on TPT and was immediatley hooked, could not put it down, you would have thought it was a NYT Bestseller Murder Mystery. I know for a teacher $25 seems a bunch, but it is worth the price, I promise.
Leonardo da Vinci’s Visionary Notebooks Now Online: Browse 570 Digitized Pages
Quick, what do you know about Leonardo da Vinci? He painted the Mona Lisa! He wrote his notes backwards! He designed supercool bridges and flying machines! He was a genius about, um… a lot of other… things… and, um, stuff...
Okay, I’m sure you know a bit more than that, but unless you’re a Renaissance scholar, you’re certain to find yourself amazed and surprised at how much you didn’t know about the quintessential Renaissance man when you encounter a compilation of his notebooks—Codex Arundel—which has been digitized by the British Library and made available to the public.

Montessori Preschool Learn to read, count and code
Alas, Maria Montessori, who opened her first classroom in 1907, couldn’t have dreamed that her innovative teaching style would one day be handheld, available on the App Store, and accessible via the tap of a toddler’s finger.
Montessori Preschool is essentially a tiny Montessori preschool condensed into one interactive app. Opening it is akin to approaching your child’s school complete with the street sounds of drop-off and a parked yellow school bus. Tap the red-roofed school building on the home screen and pop, your little one is off to the learning races.
Montessori Preschool starts by teaching basic math, reading, and arithmetic, then moves on to more challenging topics like Chinese.
Once you’ve entered the school and opened a door to a classroom (choose from math, literacy, shapes and colors, drawing, and more), your tot can earn coins for completing mini-lessons that are fun, funny, and age-appropriate. Lessons are split into simple competency categories: The math classroom includes lessons on numbers from 1 to 10 , 11 to 100, or, if your child is ready for it, geometry (i.e., shapes and spacial awareness). Little fingers can count beach balls or trace numbers. Clear instructions tell you to tap shapes when you hear their names or fit blocks into their appropriate-shaped holes on a board.
