Rocket Review
Week of March 29, 2019
Happy Spring Break!
Our students are very exciting about the upcoming break and sharing the fun activities and travel plans they have with us as we conclude our week. For those Morgan families traveling over the break, may you have safe travels and beautiful weather. Those of us doing a "stay-cation" at home, may you have some fun, restful days and nice weather.
The week we return from spring break will be the final week of our 3rd Marking Period. We have a 1/2 day on Friday, April 12, where students will be released at 11:29 AM as teachers work to complete grades and report cards for the 3rd Marking Period. You will receive your child's report card through email by the end of the day on Monday, April 22. You must have an established PowerSchool account to receive your child's report card. If you need help with PowerSchool, please contact Melissa in our Main Office at 586-797-5800 and she can help you with your account.
March is Reading Month has come to a close and I would like to congratulate all of our Morgan students who reached their Baseball Reading Goal and received a free ticket to Jimmy Johns Baseball field! Our designated "Morgan Day" will be Thursday, June 27. Students who achieved their reading goal will be able to walk onto the baseball field as a group and be recognized by the crowd for their reading achievements! Great job, Morgan Rockets!!
Morgan also had our March is Reading Month Assembly on Monday, with guest readers Dr. Johns, Superintendent of UCS, Mr. DiLorenzo, local author, and Morgan family members Mrs. VanTorre and Mr. Rutledge. We heard several stories, sang some songs together and learned our new Morgan song based on the 8 Keys of Excellence. Morgan students also previewed our new PBIS video that outlines our expectations for positive behavior at Morgan. There are pictures from the assembly below.
I would also like to thank our music teachers, Miss Quagliotto and Mrs. Rosso for another entertaining music concert on Tuesday evening. Our Kindergarten and First Grade students, with the help of their Fifth Grade Buddies, showed their family and friends what they have been learning and practicing in music classes.
It's been a very busy week at Morgan and we are looking forward to the break. The school will be closed all next week, but we will be ready to welcome our Morgan Rockets back on Monday, April 8!
Have a great week!

Morgan Lunch Monitors
Morgan continues to look for additional support during the lunch hour. While our building is allocated a certain amount of paid EduStaff lunch monitors, we can take additional support in the form of volunteers. Students really enjoying seeing their parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle at school during the lunch time helping in the lunchroom or walking around the playground with the kids.
If you are interested in becoming a paid lunch monitor, please click on link below to start an application with EduStaff. EduStaff certified lunch monitors are paid an hourly rate each day they work. EduStaff employees can also complete additional, free, online training sessions and become substitute paraprofessionals for additional paid hours of work.
Morgan also takes volunteers with a current background check on file. If you filled out a Volunteer Sheet within the past few years, you should be able to volunteer for field trips, classroom help and lunch supervision. If you are unsure about your volunteer status, please contact the Main Office and Sharon or Melissa can check for you: 586-797-5800.
If you are interested in volunteering during the lunch hour, which runs from 11:30 AM until 12:15 PM each day, please contact Melissa in the main office and let her know what days you are available to volunteer. Grandparents/aunts/uncles/neighbors are all welcome once we have a background check on file.
If you have any questions, please call Morgan at 586-797-5800 or email Mrs. Lasky at sue.lasky@uticak12.org.
