News and Notes for Teachers- Dec 10
Dear Staff
Heading into another full week of learning. Our canned food drive continues through this week. See the link below.
The AVID resource on creating language objectives is very helpful. We will be talking more about about this when we get back from Winter Break.
Congratulations to Mr. Stein and his drama club for some great performances this last weekend.
Please take care of yourselves these next two weeks. It is hard on students and staff when we have a lot of subs in the building.
Have a productive week.
Mary

Holiday Print Shop Schedule
Wanted to make sure you are aware of a planned disruption of service in the Print Shop over the Winter break. The print shop will be closed the entire Winter break getting new equipment installed with the new lease agreement the District has signed. Any print items that are needed immediately after the Winter break needs to be ordered no later than December 17. Anything after that will likely not be turned around to the buildings until the middle of January.

Climate and Culture update
Hello SMMS! This is Krista Reiman. The culture and climate team decided to start sharing some weekly themes/trends with student behavior and discipline in our building in an effort to be more transparent about those areas. Omar will also share some Wellness Center updates. I was gone for three days this week, but here are the trends we are seeing:
Students trying to “pants” each other (pull down another student’s pants). Mostly boys. Staff: if you see any students even joking about this in the hallway, please let me know right away.
Students getting a pass to the bathroom and staying out for longer than 5 minutes. Staff: please be extra vigilant about students going to the bathroom and let me know of anyone who stays out for 10 minutes or longer. Also, students need to have a pass.
Wellness Center Updates:
41 students are attending the Wellness Center weekly
Students are going over classroom expectations with Mr. Garcia
80% of students that come to the Hawks Nest are in the green zone which means they are coming from a positive learning environment(the classrooms)
75% of students coming to the Hawks Nest are using focus tools and learning how it helps them focus and pay attention
Thank you!!
