Hillcrest School's Report Card ~ Principal's Report
In November, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued District and School Report Cards for all Wisconsin public schools. The information within the School Report Card is based on data from the previous three school years.
Each district and school receive a “score,” called an Overall Score, from 0-100.
This is not a “percent correct” measurement, so the scores are not the same as grades. The overall score that Hillcrest Elementary received is based on performance in four areas:
Student Achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics
Student Growth in English Language Arts and Mathematics
Closing Gaps in English Language Arts and Mathematics
On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness
I am so excited to share that Hillcrest again made huge growth on our latest School Report Card and have moved into the Significantly Exceeds Expectations category. I am extremely proud of the dedication and hard work that all of our staff and students are putting forth. Just as a side note, attendance is a factor in our On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness so thank you for continuing to make school attendance a priority for your student!
Here is a summary of our scores that we received this year.
If you would like additional clarification, please feel free to reach out to me.
OVERALL SCORE = 86.5
- ELA Achievement = 34.7/50
- Math Achievement = 36.4/50
OVERALL STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT SCORE = 71.1
- ELA Growth = 49.2/50
- Math Growth = 48.2/50
OVERALL SCHOOL GROWTH SCORE = 97.4
- ELA Achievement Gaps = 44.1/50
- Math Achievement Gaps = 47.4/50
OVERALL CLOSING GAPS SCORE = 91.5

PTO News
It's Time Again for the Hillcrest Holiday Store!
We are asking all Hillcrest Elementary parents, teachers, and staff to please donate adult-friendly, *NEW or LIKE NEW* items to this year’s Holiday Store. We especially need “guy” gifts (since we often run out of the typical gifts for men first).
Some ideas of things to donate that kids choose first every year: coffee mugs, tools, socks, anything sports or hunting/fishing related, lotions and soaps (new only), gloves, candles
**Please only donate items that are a quality level you would also like to receive.**
Donated items will be made available
to all of our Hillcrest students to shop for the special adults in their lives. Suggested donation for these items is $1 each!
How to donate:
Donations can be dropped off now until Friday, December December 14th to the donation bin located inside the Hillcrest lobby.
There are just so many reasons to love this season! First off, Hillcrest PTO is so excited to be once again bringing the Holiday Store to our students (see information above). Watching the joy on their faces as they pick out a special gift for someone they love is always a highlight of this project for all of us, and we're counting on donations from all of you to make that possible again this year! Please see the attached flyer for donation instructions and ideas of items the students like to pick. We are also still looking for parent volunteers for the day of the event and for setup the Friday before as well. If you'd be interested in helping please click the following link: http://signup.com/go/EOHKuoF.
Second, we'd love to see you at our next PTO meeting on December 10th in the school library. We keep our meetings short and sweet but packed with lots of great information about the school and upcoming events. If you're interested in seeing what PTO is all about, we encourage you to join us!
Last but not least, please mark your calendars for our January 11th open gym and swim at the middle school. It's always lots of fun, and we hope to see you there!
Wishing all of you a warm and wonderful December, and we hope to see you soon!
