Principal's Message
Happy New Year. The students came back to school ready to learn. We are pleased to have a few new faces added to our school and look forward to the best 2020.
PTC Meeting: The PTC group met on Wednesday Night and started planning some upcoming events at our school. We have the Talent Show, Family Dance, and School Book Fair all coming up in the next few months. If you haven't had a chance to get involved and volunteer at OTES, we would love to have your help. There are many hands needed to pull off those events. Be on the lookout for sign up messages to support the PTC. The minutes to the meeting are posted her.
Vision at OTES: Over the course of the year our staff has been working to develop a new Vision Statement. We have worked as a whole group, received input and feedback from our PTC, and given the draft to our staff for further feedback. We would love to hear from you as we start to develop a "second draft" of this statement. Our goal is to complete our Vision Statement by the end of the school year to start the 2020-2021 school year with a clear, concise, and meaningful statement to help guide our work of educating your children at OTES. Here's a draft of that work thus far, please feel free to provide feedback through email to Jeanna.Tuell@rsu34.org, Maggie.Mitchell@rsu34.org, Kerri. Dexter@rsu34.org :
At Old Town Elementary School, our vision is to partner with families and our community to foster students who:
- Work hard at both their behavior and learning,
- Are kind and respectful to themselves and others,
- Take personal responsibility for their decisions and actions, and
- Are building independence to take on opportunities and challenges.
Next week we will have our Author Visits: A form was sent home to see if you were interested in purchasing books from these authors. If you have misplaced your order form, please contact Lynn Mayer for more information (Lynn.Mayer@rsu34.org). Thank you to the PTC for sponsoring this event!
4th Grade Parents: The teachers are planning some very cool events centered on Maine's Bicentennial Celebration. One thing they would love for all the students to have is the Bicentennial T-shirt to wear at our celebration and the trip to August. Here is the link to the T-shirt Order: Please visit this site, print or copy the order form information, fill out and send back ASAP
