In the 1900’s, if you were a fashionable young English lady of the social elite, you would make a twice annual pilgrimage to Paris, joining other women from as far away as New York and St Petersburg
Most men's jackets, even for formal wear, were loose fitting and appeared "boxy" in shape. In cold weather a man would wear an overcoat over his jacket.
Vaudeville theater
Vaudeville performances, which often ran around the clock, ran a series of separate, unrelated acts which included musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, male and female impersonators, acrobats, jugglers, and one act plays.
Nickelodeon theater (1910)
The nickelodeon was the first type of indoor exhibition space dedicated to showing projected motion pictures. Usually set up in converted storefronts, these small, simple theaters charged five cents for admission and flourished from about 1905 to 1915.
