The Two Sides that Work Together Better

Thesis Statement

Citizens and Governmental opinions should be put together to have a better society not just one; with just one rule it's weak but when mixed together with another it creates a stronger rule.

In “The Most Dangerous Game” and “Harrison Bergeron”, both texts illustrate that neither citizens nor government rules can make a better society alone. “The Most Dangerous Game” had a psychopath that had the urge to hunt humans instead of animals like a normal person on his own land isolated from the rest of the world. “Harrison Bergeron”, Harrison rebelled against the government’s rule of being equal which how that worked was that people were restricted of appearances, talent, independence exc.

Quote/Analysis "The Most Dangerous Game"

“’I hunt more dangerous game’"…. "’No,’" he said. "’Hunting tigers ceased to interest me some years ago. I exhausted their possibilities, you see. Always. There is no greater bore than perfection’"… "’I had to invent a new animal to hunt,’"… "’Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder’" (Connell 5-8).

The General got tired of hunting animals like a normal person would do in the category of “Hunting” not humans which is murder and Rainsford is shocked. That’s what happens when there’s just the citizens to make the decisions for a better society; there’s always that one person that is a psychopath or has different viewpoints on what they think is right but it’s not. The people that should be allowed to make the rules are the ones that know how to have control of themselves, in other words sane or normal, and have wisdom so if one or a group of those types of people have influence over people then society will be great no chaos; those people would be able to lead/guide others through tough times

Quote/Analysis "Harrison Bergeron"

“They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way. Nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else… ballerinas were burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face” (Vonnegut 1).

This is to the limit of every citizen is equal, everybody has the same amount of intelligence, if people are good looking their masked with things, not allowed to show skill so the same amount of skill everybody has for example, do the same amount of dishes in the same amount of time exc.. This is what happens when only government rule is there to make decisions for society; the most ridiculous things ever made to try to make society better. All these restrictions of independence, appearances, talent exc. is no good especially since all those people are basically being controlled and that leaves at least one person to figure out that these rules are wrong; people deserve to have freedom not to be controlled for any means.

Character Profile

In conclusion putting government and citizens ideas of rules together will make a better society because if there was just one group that made the rules it wouldn't be good and weak. If there was just the government that made the rules citizens would be controlled to do all types of stuff bad or good, which is still not good as shown in the picture and quote. If there was just citizens that made the rules there will be chaos because people are crazy and there some crazy people in the government so that's how those crazy and ridiculous rules come from.

Looking towards the election the points that are important to me is really that I hope a wise person is elected for president, someone that is really better suited. I'm not scared of anything I'm ready for what comes if the right person is elected.
