Board of Education members sworn into office

Three District 15 Board of Education members were sworn into office on April 24.

New members Samantha Ader and Wenda Hunt and returning member Zubair Khan will each serve four-year terms on the Board of Education. The group was sworn in by Cook County 13th Subcircuit Court Judge Jill Marisie.

The board also elected Lisa Szczupaj as president, Frank Annerino as vice president and Anthony Wang as secretary.

During the meeting, the group said goodbye to outgoing members David Border and Barbara Kain, noting the group's many accomplishments during its two years as a team.

From 2017-2019, the board approved the implementation of 1:1 Chromebooks, approved a new district website, mobile app and mass notifications tool, implemented a Spanish dual language program, among other achievements.

Because of the board's commitment to excellent public relations and communication, the team has been given the 2019 Award of Excellence in the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association's Distinguished Service Awards. The awards ceremony takes place in May.

Coming soon: Online registration for returning students

District 15 is transitioning to a new and improved student information system called Infinite Campus. Also used by neighboring districts 211, 214, 54 and 220, Infinite Campus will replace our current system, Tyler Technologies.

Part of the transition to our new system includes online registration for all current students who will be returning to D15 for the 2019-20 school year. Through online registration, returning families will be able to update their contact information, emergency contacts, health information and complete annual school district permissions (photo releases, parent handbook review, etc.).

An email will be sent in the coming weeks granting returning parents access to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. When you receive this email, please login and bookmark the page for future reference. You will need it to complete online registration for the 2019-20 school year. An email and text will be sent to parents in mid-May when the online registration window is open.

Please note, summer mailings are no longer needed with the implementation of Infinite Campus. Instead of a receiving a letter in the mail with teacher assignments and bus pick-up times and locations, Infinite Campus is where parents will find this information.

More detail will be provided in the coming weeks about Infinite Campus, online registration and use of the system moving forward.
