ZEAL: A Consequence of Encounter

One of the best consequences, and sometimes causes, of our Maverick Value of Zeal is a personal encounter with Jesus. In a 2013 homily, Pope Francis urged us to have "apostolic zeal." Specifically, he stated, "Apostolic zeal is not a drive for power, to obtain things, the pope said, but something that comes from inside that the Lord wants from us. It does not come from any intellectual or scientific knowledge of Jesus, though that is important because it helps us. Rather, this zeal comes from a real living, personal encounter with the Lord."

CONFESSION: A Vehicle For Encounter

Confession is an exercise in embracing mercy. Pope Francis stated recently, “The face of mercy is Jesus Christ. Let us keep our gaze upon him.” See the full piece below.

What Really Matters

Please check out the excellent New York Times piece by David Brooks below. He writes about cultivating "eulogy virtues." I am convinced that there is no better way to cultivate such virtues than Catholic schools. Here's an excerpt from the article:

"It occurred to me that there were two sets of virtues, the résumé virtues and the eulogy virtues. The résumé virtues are the skills you bring to the marketplace. The eulogy virtues are the ones that are talked about at your funeral — whether you were kind, brave, honest or faithful. Were you capable of deep love?"

Registration packets are ready! From now until June 5, registration for the 2015-16 school year is $160. This summer, the rate increases to $180. Tuition for K5-8th grade is $333 per month. In my very biased opinion, there is no better return on your educational investment in the city.
