December 2022

A NOTE TO OUR FAMILIES

Families and Students,

December is here! It is hard to believe that we are nearly half way through the school year and have learned so much. We have lots of fun during the month of December, but it can also be a month filled with stress and anxiety for our students and families. We have a lot of Middle-Of-Year Testing this month, which can be stressful as we encourage students to do their best. We all are looking forward to break, but we also know that it can be a sad time for many of our families. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to continue making Starr a safe and welcoming place for our students and families. As we move through this month towards our break, we will try to make this a very happy season at Starr.

Please take note of all of the Holiday Happenings in this newsletter, and reach out if you have questions. It is my pleasure, as always, to serve this wonderful community of Starr Coyotes.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Melissa Jordan

Season of Wonderment

We understand that in the past Penguin Patch (or Santa's Secret Shop) was source of stress for some of our families. So, this year, our wonderful PTO has planned a series of events for the students of Starr Elementary. These events are designed to have experiences that our students will remember through their time here. THESE EVENTS WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF PENGUIN PATCH. Please check out the wonderful things that our PTO has planned for our children!

2/5 -National Cookie Day is the 4th. Each student will get a cookie!

12/7 - Firefighters coming in for student lunches.

12/12 -12/14 - Students will work on a special handmade gift for their families.

12/12 - 12/15 -Coloring contest will start.

12/13-Santa is visiting the lunchroom!

12/19 - Coyote Caroling (Be watching Class Dojo and FB for details.)

12/21 - PAJAMA DAY for the Whole School!

12/21 --A Visit with Mrs. Claus

12/21 - Special gift from PTO for each student to take home.

Remember, our PTO has worked very hard to arrange some amazing things for our students. There will NOT be Penguin Patch this year.

December 21st is PAJAMA DAY!!!

Wear your favorite (school appropriate) pajamas to school! Let's all be comfy and cozy!

Need to change your child's dismissal plan?

If you need to make a change to how your child is going home, please make sure you contact the front office at (765) 973-3426 BEFORE 2:00. We cannot guarantee changes made after that time. Thank you!

OUTDOOR RECESS

With the ever changing weather, please remind students to dress for the weather and wear a warm coat, gloves, and a hat as the classes are still having outdoor recess and it can be chilly at times. (If you need assistance, please let us know and we are happy to find ways to provide for student needs)
