NEWS and NOTES
THANK YOU all for the hard work you have put in this week to PLC's, collaborative planning, and supporting one another daily. The power of TEAMWORK is evident and needed for our students to continue to grow....and for us to continue to GROW. Keep it up....and let me know how we can support your efforts!!!
Data PLC's will be on Tuesday this week....Grade 3-6 Teachers....please make sure your data is uploaded to the Google Doc by Monday, January 25th. K-2 Teachers.....let's talk DIBELS. Know where your students are and the skills they need to work on to grow. This helps us focus the conversation on Tuesday and prepare for Collaborative Planning on Wednesday. Our instructional conversations are becoming more focused and intentional....that should translate to our planning.
As we plan....how do you release control to your students? I DO and WE DO are important parts of your lesson and may look different depending on the skill you are teaching. However....make sure you are allowing for more time in the YOU DO of your lesson so students can practice collaboratively or independently. We can't be afraid to relinquish control of the learning over to students and let them SOAR, so be mindful of how long you hold on to your students. As stated in Disney's Frozen...."Let it Go, Let it Go"!!! See the article below about students learning from their failures. Its not the failure, but how we respond to that failure.
Acuity Benchmark 3 testing will be this week. Please see the attached schedule....the goal is to complete testing this week to use the data for planning instruction the following week. THANK YOU for the flexibility....I know that testing pulls resources from other grades.
SLO Mid Year Check ins will occur this Thursday and Friday. I have attached the document for you to complete prior to our meeting. Please come with this in hand to discuss your progress.
iPads for the classrooms are READY!!!! Please compile a list of apps you would like to have by grade level or department for me to send to IT for potential addition to the iPads.
