Week 9 - Tuesday 2nd April
Practice Hope
Dear God,
You are our constant hope!
In the season of Lent, you call us to prayer, fasting and love of the most marginalised.
As a community of faith and courage, let our gifts to Project Compassion by symbols of hope
and solidarity with our one human family.
Accompany us as we journey with Jesus to bring ‘good news’ to all creation and ready our hearts
to work for the common good of all your people.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
Welcome to our new newsletter format that is mobile friendly and should assist with finding information and news a whole lot easier. Thanks to Sam Cheesman and Mary for setting it up and filling the spaces with the appropriate information.
Easter is fast approaching and we have our Easter Liturgy scheduled for Thursday 11th April at 9.00am in the church. This reflective and prayerful liturgy highlights the events of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. All parents are every welcome to attend. Sunday 14th April is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. This significant celebration here at Holy Spirit begins with a gathering on the school oval at 8.45am in preparation for Mass at 9.00am. Traditionally we have had children participate in the Mass and procession and invite as many of our children and families to come along and join in the Palm Sunday Mass.
This Friday our students in Year 4-6 have been invited to Newman College for their production of “Masquerade” a musical adventure based on a story book written by Kitt Williams. Students will be transported to and from Newman College by school bus departing at 9.45am and returning at 12.45pm. They will need to bring a snack for the intermission and then have lunch on their return. Thanks to Principal John Finneran and staff for making this opportunity available to feeder schools.
Kiss and Drive usually runs smoothly, from time to time we have visitors or extended family that are not sure of the process. The most dangerous situations are created by people making a U-Turn at Skipton and joining the line. This move has upset people moving into the line and has resulted in some close calls. Please just simply use other safe alternatives to join the line rather than a U-turn on Skipton.
We’re all looking forward to our Interschool swimming Carnival next Monday and wish all our swimmers the best of luck as Holy Spirit strives for our 20th win. This will be our toughest test to date, we know they will all give their best. Thanks to both Jodi Newton and Sarah Thompson for being available for Friday training sessions. The Interschool Carnival is held at the HBF Stadium beginning at 9.30am.
Have a good week everyone!
Regards,
Steve Versteegen - Principal

Music hits the right note with new piano
Our sincere thanks to an ex-Holy Spirit family, Shirley and Robin Zhou, and their sons, Jack and Ray, who so generally donated a new piano to the school. Holy Spirit is known for it’s nurturing of musical talents, which will be appreciated even more on this beautiful instrument.
Holy Spirit has a wealth of fabulous music teachers that give individual tuition to students including guitar, piano, drums and vocal. We are blessed to also have our own wonderful music teacher, Mrs Milne, who takes the children for choir and music classes.
From the whole Holy Spirit community, thanks to the Zhou’s for their generous and much loved addition to our school.

Lots of Bling for Ride2School Day!
Holy Spirit participated for a second year in the Your Move "Ride2School" Initiative, encouraging students to get moving and physically active on their way to school.
We were able to host a delicious breakfast for participants thanks to the Town of Cambridge who also provided a Ride2School day pack with posters and resources to help us celebrate. Thank you to Germaine W our Your Move school parent representative and all the mums and dads for organising and preparing such a wonderful spread. A great start to the day!
This year we decided to jazz up our rides with a "Bling your Ride" competition! The calibre of decorations was extraordinary and it was a hard decision for Mrs Sims and Mr Colace to select 2 winners and 2 runners up!
Congratulations to Indiana and Riley for best bikes and Ares and Ashleigh for close runner ups. Congratulations to Tighe for winning the participants raffle.
A fun day had by all!
