Howell Sports Programs Recognized As 5th Best In State

Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, and parents for all of their efforts this year. For the 2014-15 school year the FHHS sports programs have been ranked the 5th best in the state of Missouri by Niche. Niche ranks high school sports programs for more than 9500 high schools across the country.

A component of the Viking Standard strategic plan for the FHHS Activities Department for the 15-16 school year is to have the #1 Activities Department in the state and to be ranked nationally.

Connor Flynn & Kelli Fisher Recognized For Sportsmanship

Both Connor Flynn and Kelli Fisher were honored with the "Award of Excellence" by the MSHSAA. The Award of Excellence is given to student-athletes for exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity. Congratulations to Connor and Kelli for representing FHHS in such a positive way.

Coach Wood To Take College Coaching Position

Congratulations to boys and girls head swim coach Steve Wood on accepting the assistant swim position at NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. Coach Wood just completed his second year as head coach of the boys and girls swim programs at FHHS. Good luck to Coach Wood as he transitions to the college level.

Choir Has Great Weekend At State Solo & Enseble Contests

Congratulations are in order for the Francis Howell High School Choir students who received honors for their performances at the recent Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) All-State Solo and Ensemble Contests.

Twenty individual FHHS Choir students participated in the annual MSHSAA State Music Festival on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. This event is designed for high school students to perform meticulously prepared music for a certified judge for an overall rating on Fundamental Technique and Musical Effect. The rating system is based on a 5-point system: I=Exemplary, II=Outstanding, III=Good, IV=Fair and V=Poor.

The following FHHS Choir students had standout solo and small group performances on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the All-State Solo and Ensemble competition for the 2015 MSHSAA Music Festival, held this past weekend at the University of Missouri-Columbia:

Vocal Soloists – Lauren Bellamy, Emmy Robertson and Kenzie Sheehy

Girls Sextet: Aly Aherron, Madi Jackson, Lydia Frederick, Kayla Thuet, Macie Parker, Gillian Steeno

Grantham Named 2015 Post Dispatch Scholar Athlete

Congratulations to Ryan Grantham for being named the 2015 Francis Howell Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete. Ryan is currently ranked 7th of 426 in the senior class. During his time at FHHS Ryan has participated in soccer, basketball, baseball, DECA, FCA, FBLA, NHS, and Viking Edge. Ryan plans on attending Mizzou and majoring in business and journamlism. Boys Golf Finishes 2nd At Districts, Advances To State Sectionals

Congratulations to the boys golf team on their 2nd place finish at Districts. The 2nd place finish qualifies them to advance as a team to State Sectionals on Monday, April 11th at Forest Hills Country Club. This is the sixth time in seven years that the Vikings have advanced as a team to the State Sectionals.

At FHHS our student-participants are truly students first. Congratulations to the following winter sports for being awarded MSHSAA Scholastic Achievement Awards. The awards are given based on program cumulative GPA's during the semester they are participating in.

Connor Flynn Named High School All-American

Howell senior football player and wrestler Connor Flynn has been named a Wrestling U.S.A. Magazine High School All-American. Connor was one of only 96 wrestlers in the country to receive All-American honors. Conner will be further his education and wrestling career in the fall at West Virginia University.

Baseball Gets #3 Seed In Districts

The baseball program received the #3 seed in the Class 5 District 8 Tournament. The Vikings will take on Hannibal at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th in their opening round game at Timberland. Volleyball Gets #6 Seed in District Tournament

The boys volleyball program received the 6 seed out of 19 teams in the Class 4 Tournment. The Vikings will travel to #3 seed district host SLUH on Saturday, May 16th. Times for Saturday are TBA and will be available via @FHVikings and our www.fhvikings.com website.

Girls Track Finishes 2nd At GAC Meet, Prepares For Districts

The Lady Vikings track program finished in 2nd at the GAC Meet while the boys program finished 6th overall.
