FSHS Ranks #1 in Kansas City
Frontier STEM High School is ranked #1 among KC charter high schools according to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report best high schools rankings. The school is also ranked #66 in Missouri, and #5,250 in the US.
This year’s list ranks more than 17,000 public high schools nationwide. The rankings are determined using six criteria, including performance on college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, undeserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
Congratulations to all our staff and students for this great success!
2019 Breaking Traditions Award Winner
On April 29th, nine Missourians were honored as recipients of the 2019 Missouri Breaking Traditions awards at a ceremony in Jefferson City, Missouri hosted by DESE (Department of Elementary & Secondary Education). Breaking Traditions awards honor students, educators, and employers for their achievements related to nontraditional careers.
Frontier STEM High School senior, Genesis L., won the state competition! There were only 9 categories and one winner per category and our student was one of those 9 in the entire state. Frontier STEM High School is one of 7 schools in the state that will be represented at the event.
Congratulations Genesis!

Home Visits
With our diverse student body, home visits are paramount in bridging cultural gaps that might exist. These visits also provide opportunities for staff to understand their students better by visiting them in their home environments. FSHS State of the Art Innovation Lab
Frontier Schools’ is planning to build a modern, state-of-the-art Innovation Lab attached to the Frontier STEM High School.
This project-based approach is an essential part of immersive STEM education; it makes the experience real for the students. They will be able to conceive a project, be it a product or prototype, and follow the production process from conception to physical reality. Students will understand the technology that powers their creations; both the hardware and the software. The goal is to build a strong, authentic knowledge-based theory to applied skills in STEM education, ensuring Frontier’s high school graduates will be prepared to enter collegiate level science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs with the skills to succeed on day one.
