School Updates
Dear Farley Hill Families,
I hope that this finds you and your families doing well. Our fall weather has arrived and it is time for me to remind you that the weather on the hill is always windier and colder than you might think. Please be sure that you child is dressed to stay warm at recess. Our lost and found collection is already growing! Please put your child's name on all belongings so that we can return them when we find them.
We are looking forward to our annual PTO Fall Festival on Thursday, October 13 from 6:00-7:30 PM. This is an outdoor event, so plan to dress for the weather! We are looking forward to some music, wagon rides and food (including hotdogs, apples, donuts, cider and popcorn). This is a free family event. I hope that you will be able to join us!
We are one month into the first marking period, and we are taking a close look at our student attendance data. Positive attendance is crucial for students both academically and socially. There is a significant amount of research that shows us that students who attend school regularly have stronger academic progress than those who do not attend regularly.
I have been working with CiShawn Dunham, our DHHS Pathways to Potential Coach, to help develop some motivation for improved student attendance at school. We are going to announce a school-wide challenge to promote the need for positive attendance and reduced tardiness. Our first strategy will be to award the classroom with the best attendance at the end of each month. The winning classroom will have bragging rights and a trophy to keep in the classroom, and the students will be treated to ice cream at the end of October.
Please encourage your children to get up and out the door each and every day, to get to school on time and ready to learn. Let me know if you have any questions of if you need any assistance.
Thank you,
Yvonne

Volunteers load up your vehicle with food and off you go! It’s as easy as that!
