I'm Shocked To Be Seizure Free

Over 3 Months Seizure Free
Yes, I am so shocked that I'm now over 3 months seizure free! It has been quite awhile that I've gone this long without having a seizure. I'm really shocked right now! I bet many may say, "Why is she so shocked?" If you have epilepsy, and have seizures quite frequent, you would really understand.
I've had seizures since the age of 5 and I'm in my early 40's now. During my teen years in high school, I did experience being seizure free. During a part in my 20's, when my 2nd son was 3 years old, I became over a year seizure free, but it returned. After my brain surgeries in 2008, I became over a year seizure free, but they returned. During those moments, I did treasure. It's an amazing feeling to have your body free from convulsions that controls almost everything in your body. Your brain controls everything in your body.
That's why I call epilepsy survivors, CHAMPIONS!
How Could I Be Seizure Free During This Pandemic?
With me being so excited about being seizure free, I always notify my mom and dad first. Unfortunately due to this pandemic, I talk to them over the phone more than I see them. My dad was very happy and then said, "Do you know why you're seizure free?" He then stated that due to this pandemic, my flights to the conferences and upcoming speaking engagements have cancelled. My charity events, cancelled. My son's graduation celebration event in May, cancelled. He then said, "You have less stress off of you."
My mom and sister told me that when I have so much going on, I have seizures.
So, I thought about this quite a bit and realized that this could be possibly true. Less stress, less seizures.
A Few Tactics I'm Doing I Believe That Helps Me
There's no cure for epilepsy and there are many out there that has different ideas that helps them control their seizure activity.
Yes, there has been so much less stress off of me due to the pandemic crisis because I am not as busy as usual. Still a lot of work but not as much traveling and events. Even though I became a home school mom, I started a new weekly plan.
- Exercise, walking
- Meditation
- Reading, writing, puzzles, or fun brain activities
- Eat healthy, stay hydrated
Even though I was already doing some of these things, I just wasn't doing it quite frequent as I am now due to this pandemic. I've taken vitamins and probiotics for years, and that's always a suggestion I give to many in the epilepsy community. I also take my medications and cannabis oil as my doctor's prescribed.
What I'm Hoping For...
Definitely hoping to be seizure free for LIFE but not sure about that.... But I am hoping to maintain staying stress free! I do believe what my dad told me. That I am seizure free at this time due to not having so much on me. Eventually, life will get back to normal and I will be back at it.
The tactics I'm doing now, I hope to keep at it and even do more. Stress is one of the triggers for seizures, so let's try our best to stay calm, meditate, and keep our bodies healthy.
I'm over 3 months seizure free and I hope and pray for more!
