Gearing Back Up

Each year, I know we are approaching August when I start seeing back-to-school ads on TV. Just the other night, I had to do a double-take when I heard the familiar phrase during a commercial break.

Although I love summer, I am always excited when we transition into preparing for the next school year. I enjoy seeing some familiar and some new faces at our leadership meetings, where we prep our administration for the upcoming year; at our New Teacher Academy, where we hold orientation for teachers joining us at ACPS for the first time; and during the professional development events we hold for our staff.

We hope that you will join us in this preparation as our schools host Open Houses and Back-to-School Nights. Each principal will send details to their school community with specifics, so make sure to keep an eye on your inbox! You can check dates for these events on our Important Dates webpage (but please note, they are subject to change).

These dates and more can also be found in our 2022-23 School Year Calendar, which will be hitting mailboxes in the month of August. This publication will feature information on our School Board, several directories, a 13-month calendar, and much more! It also showcases some amazing artwork from students across the division.

All of us here at ACPS hope you have had a fun and safe summer, but we are so excited to have you back!

Did you know?

Did you know that we plan and design bus routes for the division each school year? We do this to make sure we use routes that are most efficient from year to year.

If your child's transportation needs have changed, please contact your child's school by August 5 so that we can design the best bus routes possible!
