OCS Digital Learner News
A weekly newsletter for DL Families - January 29, 2021
Technology Tip
Accelerate recently released an update that allows students to take pictures with their device of assignments/projects and upload them directly via the rich text editor. This is a huge step forward in functionality for the platform and should greatly simplify the steps necessary for students to complete offline assignments. Please view the links below to see how to use the new tool. If you have any questions, please complete a Help Desk Ticket and an ITS will assist you with your issue.

Write Score
The Narrative assignment consists of two parts. The first section, which is 60 minutes in length, includes four articles with 24 multiple choice and constructed response questions. The second section, which is 60-75 minutes in length, includes four multiple choice and extended response questions.
Digital learning students may take the Narrative Write Score over the two day window on February 9th and 10th or may take both parts on the same day within the same window. The Assistant Principal from your child's school will be in contact with you regarding login procedures. Please contact the AP, if you have any questions.
Young Georgia Authors
The Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition encourages students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, provides a context to celebrate their writing successes, and recognizes student achievement in arts and academics.
YGA does not provide a prompt to which students must respond or provide any other boundaries to their genre choice or creativity beyond a 1900-word maximum length. Entries may include:
Short Stories
Poetry
Essays/Literary Criticism/Analysis
Journalism
Academic/Research Reports
Personal Narratives
Any Other Original Student Writing
Your child is encouraged to submit an original piece of writing to the assistant principal at your home school by 5:00pm on Monday, February 1, 2021. Entries submitted by this date will be entered in the school level competition based on grade. Entries will be evaluated on expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective/voice. Please contact your home school's Assistant Principal with any questions or concerns.
