10/1/2021 Update

End of Quarter Approaching

NGC Families and Students, the end of the quarter is quickly approaching! The 1st quarter will end on Friday, October 15, 2021. You still have time the next two weeks to submit any late or missing work to earn credit for the quarter. Your grades for first quarter are important because they will be averaged with second quarter to become your semester grade in January. Do your best to turn in any outstanding work and check with teachers about retakes and resubmissions as we end the quarter!

Each team of teachers prepare lessons to help students reach a high level of achievement in Math, World History, English, and Biology! Elective classes are helping students discover their passions and find out what they enjoy doing! We hope your child is finding success in all of his/her classes as they prepare for the future! The end of the quarter can be a stressful time for students as they worry about completing all assignments and earn a grade for the quarter. Please reach out to your child’s team of teachers if you have questions or concerns about his/her academic performance! They are always willing to work with students to make a plan to help your child succeed!

Along with being successful in academics, we encourage students to support and encourage each other with positive relationships. All students benefit from having a sense of belonging which is why the Ninth Grade Community and teams are so important to our students. We promote kindness and respect throughout the building and help students find ways to exhibit these behaviors throughout the school with peers and adults!

We also encourage all students to be healthy teens by getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy foods, and storing his/her cell phone away whenever possible to clear their minds and get quality rest each night. I recommend charging the phone in the parent’s bedroom so you know the device is away and not interfering with sleep.

Students & Families –

The end of first quarter is quickly approaching. I wanted to share a few tips and trick for studying that do not involve you cramming. Please make sure that you are dedicating time DAILY to your studies. Even if you may not have homework for the night, you can still be looking ahead. Take some time to look over these 7 tips to make studying a more meaningful process. While studying may never be “fun” it can be something that you get better at, and it can become personalized to your learning style. Trial and error are the best ways to practice. Please remember to speak with any teacher that you have missing assignments for and use this coming week as a time to improve your grades. Freshman year matters!! If you need my help, please let me know!

Custodial Appreciation Day 10/2/21

We love our AWESOME Custodians, Maintenance, & Ground Crews! We have some great ones in our Milford Family. Thank you for making our schools sparkle and shine, and keeping us healthy and safe!

Feed Our Flock

Feed Our Flock is a tremendous partner of Milford Schools. They work to help our community by relieving poverty, facilitating access to wellness, and tending to the care of the kids of Milford.

They provide Food Nests throughout the community and also provide weekend bags for students. If you have a need you can contact them directly ( You may also reach out to Mrs. Harvey in the NGC Office (contact below) for assistance.

They are always in need of volunteers and donations. You can see their website for more information (

Extracurricular Eligibility

Milford HS uses a quarter based system to determine if students are eligible to participate in athletics and extracurriculars. In order to participate in any extracurricular 2nd quarter, a student must earn at least a 1.5 GPA during the 1st quarter. In addition, athletes must also pass at least 5 full credit courses (everything but PE) during the 1st quarter.

If you have any questions about athletic or extracurricular eligibility, you should contact either the Athletic Director (Mr. Aaron Zupka) or the Director of Arts and Extracurriculars (Mr. Josh Kauffman).

Grade Cards

Grades will be available by the last week October. Student grade cards can only be viewed through ProgressBook. You will not be receiving a hard copy of your child’s report card. If you need a parent access code, please contact Paula Harvey
