REMINDERS
- Dress code has been reviewed many times and students know the expectations. If a student violates the dress code, it will result in finishing that day serving in school suspension. Please review the dress code policy with your child so they do not have to be pulled from class. Thank you.
- Our goal is for all students to grow 10% points from the previous year's STAAR score or this year's baseline test if there were no previous STAAR scores. Each common assessment is an opportunity to earn another chance to win......all they have to do is show growth!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Mental Health
Adolescence can be a risky period for mental health problems. On top of environment and genes, teenagers go through many changes and challenges in a short period of time. This all happens while teenage brains are still maturing.
Your love and support and a strong relationship with you can have a direct and positive impact on your child’s mental health. It can even reduce the chances of your child experiencing mental health problems.
Here are some ideas to promote your child’s mental health and wellbeing:
- Show love, affection and care for your child.
- Show that you’re interested in what’s happening in your child’s life. Praise his efforts as well as his good points and achievements and value his ideas.
- Enjoy spending time together one on one with your child, and also as a family.
- Encourage your child to talk about feelings with you. It’s important for your child to feel she doesn’t have to go through things on her own and that you can work together to find solutions to problems.
- Deal with problems as they arise, rather than letting them build up.

STUDENT SUCCESS TIPS
1. Get the dates for the grading periods from your school’s academic calendar and post them on your refrigerator or somewhere you and your student see them frequently. This reminder will provide opportunities for you and your student to have a “grade check moment” from time to time as you look at his/her current grades and the number of opportunities that he/she has to improve that grade.
2. When you are making decisions about scheduling extracurricular activities, make sure that your student understands that class work, homework, and potential tutoring must be completed before he will be allowed to continue the extracurricular activities.
