TIPS Journal May 10, 2023
on the school year so far
Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School
We are very proud of the ingenuity and thoughtfulness of our community service projects. Ms. Koh's grade 8 TAP has teamed up this spring with Temple University Japan to provide food staples and hygiene products for university students. The food and hygiene product drive will last through May 12 and we urge you to contribute nonperishable food and other products described in the flier below. Simply send them through your son or daughter's backpack and grade 8 will take care of the rest, including delivery.
Summer for many of us is a time to review and preview, especially the subjects which challenge us. The TIPS Summer Program is a three-week session with something for everyone. Registration has started, and you may read more about the program and register at the link below.
As always, any questions, please ask.
All the best,
Lyn Sato
TIPS Principal

SPRING SPORTS DAY, APRIL 14
STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS
As spring is reaching and it becomes warmer, Student Council is planning lots of events and activities to celebrate the new season approaching! To start off, we are setting up a Koinobori Fish in the Common Room to both celebrate Children’s Day and spread awareness about bullying in honor of the Anti-Bullying Day set by the UN. Scales will be provided for students to draw or write positive anti-bullying comments and will be stuck onto the fish. The Student Council will also be setting up a Toy Donation Event, so please donate any unused toys if you have any! This heart-warming event will take place from the 1st of May, so please keep out on the lookout for a big fish and bring any donations if you can.
For more information about the Toy Donation Event: https://www.ehaiki.jp/second/
Furthermore, we are also planning a BBQ day out in the Tamagawa Fields. The Student Council will provide a variety of food, drinks and snacks for students to buy and drink out in the refreshing, green field. It will be a great opportunity for students to recharge and refresh!
