JEB Stuart was born on February 6, 1833 in Ararat, Virginia. Died in May 12, 1864 after being struck in the side by a bullet in the Battle of Yellow Tavern May 11, 1864 as a Confederate General.
Interesting Facts
He led his regiment in the First Battle of Bull Run, where the Union Army’s early success was undone in part because of Stuart’s routing, forcing their retreat back to Washington DC. In a later Confederate raid, Stuart managed to overrun Union army commander Pope's headquarters and capture his full uniform and orders that provided Lee with much valuable intelligence. At the end of 1862, Stuart led a raid north of the Rappahannock River, inflicting some 230 casualties while losing only 27 of his own men.
