Hello October!
So glad we are together this fall. Sure, school as we know it is different and a little less social than we're used to, but on the upside, we are together and learning. And that is to be appreciated.
Enjoy October's Mustang Messenger. Lots included, so take your time reading. Should you need to reach out to us here at school, never hesitate.
Thank You Families For Your Partnership!
Thank you for honoring our requests to attest to student health the afternoon/evening before each school day. It is all helping!
Thank you for masking. And thank you for modeling social distancing during afternoon dismissal and pick-up.
Again, we so appreciate the partnership!
The Attestation Process
This process is our ticket to success and what allows our students to enter the building without delay. If children come to school without a health attestation, they must be screened. Kids answer several questions, take a temperature, and then enter the school.
Thank you for attesting to your child's health each afternoon or evening. See your email or text. The last screening is midnight the night before school.

Back-to-School Checklist to Guide Parents
As our Mustangs continue to make great strides with social distancing and the wearing of masks, the CDC has this informative checklist to help you at home! Click below for this great resource.
Remember if your child has a fever over 100.4 or your child has a sore throat or other signs of illness, like a cough, diarrhea, severe headache, vomiting, or body aches please call our absence hot line. 509-465-6484.
If your child has had close contact to a COVID-19 case, they should not go to school. Follow guidance on what to do when someone has known exposure.

Giving Back—A Mustang Fall Book Drive!
Our face-to-face learners have access to library books daily. Our remote learners...not so much.
In an effort to support our remote kiddos, we have organized a book drive for the month of October. All new and gently used texts collected will be offered to our 100+ remote students—for learning and for enjoyment.
Drop your books by school, beginning today, through the end of the month. Mrs. Wheeler, our awesome Library/Information/Technology guru will gather the donations, process them, and get them ready for our remote Mustangs to pick-up at the end of the month during conference week. Pick-up times to come.
Halloween Celebrations are Cancelled
With the timing of goal-setting conferences and the 31st being a Saturday, it simply makes sense to cancel.
Other factors keeping us from a typical Halloween:
- Ongoing COVID challenges
- A need to eliminate activities which draw children within 6 ft. distance
- An elimination of gatherings with shared food/snacks
- A ban on parents and volunteers in the school space
PTO Board Positions Open
Our new treasurer was voted in, but two positions remain open: VP of Community and Volunteers and our Secretary position. Please consider becoming involved in PTO, and possibly entertain a Board position.
Play Structures Remain Off Limits
If and when these mandates are relaxed, we will open up our brand new play spaces.
Recess has been part of our day, of course, but in a more organized fashion on our fields. We are using a program called Peaceful Playgrounds.
Visitors and Volunteers
- Wear face coverings when on the Evergreen campus.
- Practice social distancing.
- Check in at the office vestibule before entering the building.
- Please do not pick up children from school before 3:20.
Daily Dismissal
At the afternoon bell, children line up in classrooms socially distanced. With support from teachers, children exit their classroom doors and proceed to the back blacktop, the bus loop, and the flagpole to meet their masked and socially distanced parents, caregivers, and buses.
Our processes are working! Let's keep it up!
