Welcome Mr. Avelar!

I'd love to welcome our new Intervention Specialist, Eric Avelar. He will be joining our team this week (on Thursday) so let's make sure to give him a warm Vista welcome!

Way to go STEAM club!!

A special shout-out to Mrs. Gibb, leader of the STEAM club and Mr. E. who brought in his friend from the Walt Disney Company who works in the online games division to speak with our students. The students were so engaged and had an awesome opportunity to ask Mr. Alex Beckers questions about Disney engineering! I'm so proud of the collaboration taking place here!

Computer Distribution

As many of you know, the new Chromebooks have arrived! If you have not already seen them, you should definitely have access by the end of this week. Chromebooks are a little bit different than standard laptops. If you have any immediate questions on how to use them, please let Satoshi know. He is working on finding a time to provide some additional training or send a quick how-to guide. I would recommend doing a quick google search if you are having difficulties figuring out how to use them! Here is what you should expect and where the carts will be housed for now. Just for your knowledge, all classrooms will eventually have their own cart (woohoo!) but until that happens, here is where they will live while you are sharing with others.

ICEF Art's Month

Word is's ICEF Art's Month! There will be some opportunities for our students throughout the month to engage in the arts. One opportunity that is available to all is to attend the ICEF Production of Beauty and the Beast (4/22-4/24). Two of our Vista scholars have roles in the play and are excited to be supported by the Vista community. You can purchase tickets in the office.

S.K.I.T.T.U...W. Contest

Have you figured out what it stands for?? We've got some guesses so far ranging from something to do with Pokemon, the Kardashians and a more specific guess, "School Knowledge Initiative Teacher Teams Unite...Way to go!" Keep those guesses coming to earn bonus points for your teams!

Winners will be revealed, Wednesday April 13 when we meet in the Hall at 1:30. Lunch will be provided! Come with your game faces on! All are invited to come and enjoy (even if you were not on a SKITTU...W. team!)

Someone's Getting Married!

It's Mihr! Congratulations to Mr. Mihr who proposed over the weekend. She said YES!

Word of the Week

(v.) to bring or come together

Student of the Month

Tolerance refers to an attitude of openness and respect for the differences that exist among people. Tolerance means respecting and learning from others, valuing differences, bridging cultural gaps, rejecting unfair stereotypes, discovering common ground, and creating new bonds. Tolerance, in many ways, is the opposite of prejudice.

Instructional Focus - Cognitive Level of Student Learning Experiences (3.2B)

STILL...Same as before! When planning your lessons (1.2B), are you addressing the following:

1) Are learning experiences differentiated to meet the needs of all learners?

2) Have you addressed the necessary accommodations needed to meet the needs of students with special needs ? (Are we in compliance for those specifically with IEPs?)

3) Do these experiences align to the objective/standard?

Supervision Reminder

We are still looking for extra help on the yard (major shout-out to those of you who have already volunteered!) A few reminders for when you're on watch:

  • Be super VISIBLE (walk around, stay standing, avoid being hidden by students coming to speak to you)
  • Be super VIGILANT (really look around, walk over to groups of students that are huddled in the far corners of the yard, walk past the bathrooms several times, and please no cell phone use during supervision).
