Greenback Fundraiser
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! The 2015-2016 Greenback Fundraiser ended on Friday, September 25. We came so close to reaching our goal and have raised $18,211, but didn't quite make the mark. Remember that this is the only CES school fundraiser, and that 100% of all funds go to the school! If you would still like to donate, please go ahead and send it in with your student(s). There are extra envelopes in the office if needed. We appreciate your donations, and thank you for your continued support!
Volunteer Orientations
Volunteer orientations have been scheduled and completed. If you missed the training and still would like to volunteer, there is a video of the training downloaded on a computer in the library for your convenience. You simply watch the video and sign the paper provided to you by Mrs. Kessel (the librarian) after watching the training.
In addition to CES volunteer training, each year volunteers need to fill out the Volunteer Background Application on the district website under the parents and students tab. The 2015-2016 application is available for completion. You cannot volunteer in the school until you have completed this through the district website, so don’t delay!

Destination Imagination is a fun, hands-on, extracurricular program for kids that fosters students' creativity and problem-solving skills through open-ended academic STEM-based Challenges. By working in teams of up to 7 students, team members experience the creative process from imagination all the way to innovation, culminating in an awesome one-of-a-kind final presentation. Colleyville Elementary had teams go to the state and national levels in 2013, which were unforgettable experiences for these young creatives.
Each team needs an adult team manager, so we are seeking parents and teachers, as well as our bright CES students, to form teams! Feel free to head to head to www.DestinationImagination.org for more information and {watch this great DI video} to learn about this year's challenges. Sign up forms for Destination ImagiNation are in Friday Folders. Questions? Please contact Maggie McDonald at maggiejmcd@msn.com
PLEASE REPORT YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS!
Each month at CES we strive to capture all of our volunteer hours worked supporting our kiddos, teacher and staff. We record and report these hours to the GCISD school district and to our state PTA organizations. Within our district, reported hours help with grant application data and with the district annual report of "man hours saved". Schools are recognized and awarded by earned volunteer hours. In addition, we recognize two individuals each month for their volunteer efforts and hours earned!
At CES many of our volunteer hours are earned participating in on-campus (at CES) activities, which are recorded through our Raptor system when our volunteers check in and out of the front office. Another large portion of our volunteer hours are earned off-campus (CES events/class party preparation time, room parent responsibilities/communications time, chaperoning field-trips and preparing for JA in a day among many other things) and are not often captured. We would like that to change!
Off-campus volunteer hours can now be reported on the Off-Campus Volunteer Record or by e-mailing charlotte_barborka@yahoo.com. The record is located on the front desk in the office! Questions? Contact Charlotte Barborka, CES PTA Volunteer Coordinator.
