Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
February 21, 2019
Dear Parents,
As we continue to focus on our virtue of kindness, it is important that we teach our children that it's not just about doing nice things, although that's important. It's about improving the way we interact with each other. Choosing to be kind is about who we are as people. Kindness is shown not only in action, but in our words. We remind our students that:
Before you speak, think:
T - Is it true?
H - Is it helpful?
I - Is it inspiring?
N - Is it necessary?
K - Is it kind?
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal
Family Engagement Workshop at the Bucks County Intermediate Unit
The Bucks County Intermediate Unit will be holding a Family Engagement/Parent Workshop specifically for nonpublic families who have children participating in speech and language services on Wednesday, March 27th. One of the goals that the nonpublic speech therapists developed this year was a way to support parents in their development of language skills in a digital world. Cindy Kruse, M.Ed., Educational Consultant and Professional Development Specialist will present "Parenting with a Wide Angle Lens," which will provide opportunities for parents and guardians to explore how language develops and ways to set limits on technology. If you wish to take part in this Workshop, please see the registration form below. All registrations are due back no later than Thursday, March 7th.
Re-Registration 2019-2020/New Family Registration
Re-registration of current school families for the 2019-2020 School year is still open, as well as registration of new families.
For those who have not yet sent in their Re-registration Form, we will be sending home intent to return forms during the month of March. These re-registration forms are crucial for us in order to prepare for next year, as well as determine class sizes. We ask that you please send in your form as soon as possible.
In order to re-register however, families must be up to date on current tuition payments. We do ask that you please fill out the Re-registration Form accordingly and return it to school along with payment in an envelope marked “Re-registration.” Please know that forms will not be accepted and students will not be considered registered unless payment is included.
If you have any questions or need to discuss current tuition circumstances, please contact the Principal or Business Manager. Once again, we thank you for the continued sacrifices you make to send your children to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.

BLOCS - Additional Funding Awarded to OLGC
We are excited to announce that The Foundation for Catholic Education has informed us that several OLGC parishioners applied and have been approved for the SPE Program – Special Purpose Entity. This allowed them to participate in the EITC Program, whereby they can now redirect their state tax dollars directly to Our Lady Good of Counsel School. As a result, this has now greatly increased the amount of tuition funds available for school families that apply and are approved for BLOCS for the 2019-2020 School Year.
We highly encourage everyone to apply for BLOCS tuition grants via Facts (Application found HERE). In order to be considered for this grant you must apply and be approved.
Facts is the third party administrator that processes and reviews your financial information in order to determine eligibility. This is a strict confidential process and we only receive a confirmation of whether or not a family is approved. Participation in the SPE Program is available to everyone. If you or anyone you know is interested in participating in the SPE Program, please review the information HERE or contact the School Office if you would like to speak to someone that has been a part of this program.
