Rockledge Elementary School

School Hours: 9am-3:40pm (Doors open at 8:55am daily)

Hello Rockledge Families,

Thank you families for coming out for some of our most recent parent events; Back to School Night, Advisory Council, and the monthly PTA meeting. We have been busy growing and learning as a school. Today we were honored to have a visit by our PWCS Superintendent, Dr. LaTonya McDade. She was able to stop by classrooms and see some of the amazing learning happening at the Rock.

Many great and fun things are happening at Rockledge for the rest of October. Remember families, that one of the best things you can do to support your child's learning is to read to or with them every night. Please let us know if you are in need of any books to read.

Your Principal & Assistant Principal,

Back to School Night Thanks

Families, it was amazing seeing everyone at our annual Back to School Night events at the beginning of the month. And thank you, thank you for sharing your Hopes and Dreams for your student's learning this year.

The Hopes and Dreams activity was a part of our larger work this year to review and revise our school vision and mission. Our goal is to have a vision and mission that reflects to collective voice of our community. As a part of that work, we are looking for parents that may be interested later in the year in volunteering to be a part of the vision conversation. We are looking to do this working beginning in January, and would love you help. If you want to be a part of this work please email Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman at steptoNK@pwcs.edu.

Arrival & Dismissal: No Pets on School Grounds

During arrival and dismissal we ask that no pets accompany families picking up students. This helps limit opportunities for pets getting away from owners and students responding in a unsafe manner.

Thank you for your attention to this.

Kindergarten Students at Bus Stop

Kindergarten Families:

Kindergarten students must be accompanied to and from bus stops by a parent, guardian, or other designated individual. See details on the Transportation Services webpage.

Contact the Transportation Services staff with questions.

Instruction & Assessment Updates

Family-Teacher Conferences

On Monday, November 1st, teachers will hold conferences. Many teachers have already begun signing up families for participation. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child's teacher, please email them to schedule. Families will have the option of meeting in-person or via Zoom.

Opportunities to conference with your teacher about your child's learning strengths and areas of growth is important. It allows the teacher, family, and student to collectively understand where needs are. It also provides an important opportunity for everyone to work together to support the child's learning. It is of extreme importance for children to understand that we are all working together for their success.

Families' Vision for Learning

As we journey into a new school year, Rockledge Elementary School will be revisiting our current vision statement. As part of the process, we would like you to share your personal educational values with us. We will use this information, along with information from our staff and students, to review and revise our vision statement. We appreciate your input in this very important process.
