Walk To School Day is Coming!
The Montgomery County Health Department is pleased to partner with Cheltenham Elementary School for International Walk to School Day! Walk to School Day is an annual event that raises awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, and concern for the environment. The event builds connections between families, school, and the community. You’re invited to join us on Wednesday, October 7th at 9:15am in the back parking lot of the school. Together, we will walk around the school and celebrate Walk to School Day! Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey to assist us better in understanding the barriers to why kids aren't walking to school. We will use this data to continue our work in breaking down some of these barriers. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JNSQKN2
Book Character Parade is Friday October 9th
Cheltenham Elementary will be holding a celebration of reading with a Book Character Parade on Friday, October 9, 2015.
Students are invited to dress as a favorite book character and participate in a parade around the school to show our love of reading! The parade will begin with a demonstration by the Cheltenham High School’s marching band followed by the parade march around the school. All parents are invited to attend this event (please arrive at 9:30 and park in the back of the school.)
Here is some important information for you to consider:
- Costumes should reflect a book character.
- Students are invited to bring the book that their character is modeled after.
- Costumes should NOT have any of the following:
- Makeup or masks
- Toy Guns, Knives, etc.
- Any gruesome or violent details (no blood)
- Please note that we will be parading outside (weather permitting) so costumes and shoes should be weather appropriate.
We are looking forward to bringing back this wonderful school tradition and celebrating the wonderful gift of reading!!
Cheltenham Elementary Supports CHOP!
Dear Friends and Family,
The 2015 Four Seasons Parkway Run raises much needed funds for cancer research and survivorship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Funding is crucial in order to develop new treatments and ultimately cures. Cheltenham Elementary School along with support from Cheltenham Education Association helped support TEAM TOBY and DOMINIC'S POSSE. As of today, we have collected over $12,000 for the Cancer Center. I thank you all for your support; every dollar counts!
Want to fund a musical Donors Choose Project?
Mrs. Przybylowski is requesting 30 ukulele and 10 Ukulele strings to help us MAKE MUSIC with chords! We will learn how to play chords to accompany our songs using the ukulele. This will help us to explore chords with folk songs that will build our musicianship. We love making music and would like to enjoy the ability to play and sing in an ensemble.
