PARENT NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2021
Hello Montessori Parents:
Happy Holidays to you all! Can you believe it's already that time of year? Time flies when you're having fun and we are definitely having fun at Montessori:) Students have been very busy completing their work plans and preparing for their upcoming Winter Concert on Monday, December 13th!
I have just a few reminders for you this month:
Please make sure to have your students dress warmly during the winter. Students will have to stand outside if they arrive before 7:50 am and we will go outside for recess if the windchill temperature is 10 degrees or higher.
Thank you for all of the generous donations for the food pantry, that project was a huge success! Speaking of huge success... our school fundraiser - RAISE CRAZE - was just what the PAB needed to launch support for this school year! $6,595.39 was raised to support Montessori classrooms!!!🎉 SO EXCITING!!
It's nearing the end of first semester which means it's also testing season:) All students will be taking their MAP Fluency screener and third and fourth graders will be taking the state NSCAS assessment in reading and math. It's fun to have the opportunity to show off what they have learned so far this year.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns and have a wonderful December!
Educationally,
Mrs. Hausmann

What is PBIS?
What does it mean to teach behavior? We follow the same basic steps when teaching behavior as we would for teaching any new skill, especially academics. Think about any new skill you have learned or that you have taught someone else and reflect on the different steps in the teaching cycle. It is critical to move beyond the tell and show phases and give children plenty of practice and feedback about how they did meeting the expectations. Just like we would with an academic error, if a child makes a behavioral error, we engage in re-teaching the expectations.
We encourage you to define and teach your expectations at home just like we do at school so the children know exactly what they should do and how they should do it. This helps prevent inappropriate behavior from happening. It could be helpful to use the school-wide expectations when teaching your child your home expectations.
Front of the Building - Project Will be Completed in July 2022
