iPad Progress!
Moving forward...
Here's how things are looking, from your Friendly-Neighborhood Instructional Technician...
One of the most tedious parts of the process was our need to manually ensure that the "naming" of devices is absolutely updated, accurate, and thorough. Most of this was done at a more "automatic" level; most everyone (barring extraneous complications) who made sure to collect their devices and plug them into power (and plug in their carts/charging stations) and make sure that they were connected properly to a wireless network, actually had their devices recognized and reporting in very quickly. Unfortunately, since we didn't have absolute 100% participation with this, the process was slowed down some, but, we were able to physically check and correct this manually (going around, in-person, to each and every device, possible) to get at about 90% of devices.
And, if you did it right, but you're feeling the strain of these delays, don't be discouraged; we'll probably never get full 100% involvement but the more that people do step up and keep eagerly doing what you did, following the instructions, the more (especially from here on out!) we will be able to pick up momentum and have fewer and fewer problems and quicker and quicker service! YOU, individually and collectively with the rest that did, saved all of us time and effort! Bravo!
If you had some trouble, no worries! These things are difficult; some folks have no experience with the devices AND at start of school, we all know how busy and chaotic it can be. And that's okay! I will, personally, be working avidly to develop trainings and basic procedures to help everyone be better and better able to take charge of their devices and help us to help YOU!
(There will be several of these forthcoming, ASAP; I already have a list of obvious trainings and tips that should give everyone with iPads at least a minor leg up on getting the most out of your devices!)
Here are the very next things that you can look for to help us keep moving forward:
"Lost" Devices
Please follow the instructions and help us to help YOU! Thanks!
We do apologize for any inconvenience but it's a natural "growing pain" of this shift to better management, thanks!
Knowing Your "Name"
Okay, so maybe this is mostly just exciting to us nerds... But, it will help us serve you better and faster! Always let us know this name if you need anything on your iPad(s) or when they have problems. If we can solve it from our office, it will be fixed MUCH faster, with this information!
Sadly, not all of our devices can take advantage of this awesome feature...
... :( (Sad face...)
IF your device does have a display name on the lock screen but it doesn't match your Name on the Settings About page, PLEASE let us know, as that might delay service for you at some point in the future!
Don't forget!
Additionally, the www.HudsonISD.org website Staff Center has this link for requesting apps. So, if you need apps not listed in the 30 most common, you can input them there for now, until we get a better form or better method for app requests. Thank you!
