PhD student presents research in San Francisco
Brent Fujimoto, Ph.D. candidate in Developmental and Reproductive Biology, presented this month at the American Diabetes Association Meeting in San Francisco, CA. Mr. Fujimoto mentors are Drs. Noemi Polgar and Ben Fogelgren. The research focuses on how glucose is transported into muscle which is important for understanding diabetes. Also attending the meeting from the University of Hawaii Diabetes Research Center were Drs. Noemi Polgar, Marjorie Mau, Mariana Gerschenson and Michael Corley.
MD students, Sports Medicine Fellow present research in Texas with help from Straub donors
University of Hawaiʻi (UH) MD students Josiah Situmeang (MD 2021), Melissa Jackels (MD 2022) and UH Sports Medicine Fellow Dr. Erika Ofek presented their research in Sports Medicine at April’s American Medical Society of Sports Medicine conference in Houston, Texas, a trip made possible by donations to the Straub Bone & Joint Center, according to Hawaiʻi Pacific Health (HPH) and Straub Medical Center.
