Early Release Dates
All elementary schools will have an early release once a month for our teachers to receive professional development focused on increasing student success.
On the following Thursdays, school will be released at 1:30 pm.

AAC Awareness Month
- Some of our afternoon announcments will be made using AAC devices.
- Visual strips/cues will be posted around the building .
- Bulletin boards are displayed with informaiton about AAC.
- Staff members are participating AAC social media challenges.
Book Fair
Reading increases knowledge and vocabulary, lowers stress, and supports your child’s emotional growth. But perhaps the best benefit is the lasting bond you create with your child when you read with them.

Children's Mercy Happy Kits
This month, Renner students are practicing empathy and helping the community by assembling Happy Kits for Children’s Mercy during our Marathon Teams on November 7th. To do this, we are seeking NEW items. Please see the list below for items you can donate per grade level. If you would like to give something from your grade level and/or another grade level, that is fine too! We will use all that you give! Thank you in advance for helping us practice empathy and for helping our community!
Kindergarten/1st Grade:
Coloring book
Bubbles (MUST BE 4 oz or smaller and MUST say non-toxic on the label)
2nd/3rd Grade:
Crayola brand crayons (small box)
Card game (Go Fish, Crazy 8’s, Uno, etc.)
4th/5th Grade:
Small book
Magazine 1 of the following: Sports Illustrated Kids, Highlights, National Geographic Kids, American Girl, Discovery Girls, Kids Discover, National Geographic Little Kids, Girls Life
Please bring any items you can donate to school by Friday, November 1st.

Fall Parties
It's Party TIME! If you would like to help at the Fall Parties in the classroom, please click HERE.
Fall Party Costume Guidelines
Guidelines:
- Students may bring a simple costume to wear at the party and for the costume parade if they wish to do so.
- Students should not wear costumes to school on the day of the Fall Party.
- Students will be allowed to slip on their costume in the classroom prior to the Fall Party.
- For the safety of our students, they will not be allowed to go to restrooms or hallways to change in to their costume.
When selecting a costume for your child to wear at school, please follow these guidelines:
- Weapons and pretend weapons of any kind are not permitted at school.
- No hair dye, face paint, special make-up, fake blood, gore, etc. is permitted.
- No masks of any kind should be worn by students.
*Costumes for students are not a requirement for Fall Parties. All costumes should be in good taste and appropriate for the school setting.

PTA Information
PTA is a major contributor to student field trips, building events, grade level t-shirts and cultural arts activities. PTA is a great opportunity for families to get to know more about our school and provide support to students. You can join on the Renner PTA website HERE.

PTA Reflections
National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
The theme for the 2019-2020 program year is Look Within. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. Click HERE for more information.

Veterans Day Celebration
We would like to honor the immediate family members of our Renner students who are Veterans or currently serving in the military. During our celebration, we will recognize the members of all branches of the military, join together in the Pledge of Allegiance, and celebrate Veterans Day. There will be a short reception immediately following in the cafeteria for Veterans and their family. Please return the RSVP form (that will be sent home on Monday), if you have a veteran you would like recognized at our celebration.

Trojan Trunk or Treat
The goal of Trojan Trunk or Treat is to provide a safe, fun environment for elementary, Gerner, and Russel Jones students to trick or treat and middle school students to have a place to play games for the holiday. There will also be a sensory-friendly room available, so all kids can comfortably participate in the event.
This event will be held on October 23rd, 2019 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at PHHS. All PHSD kids and families are invited. Please see the attached flier below
