What's new? What's up?
Principal's Message
We made it to October! The first month of school has certainly been a challenge for all. However, we feel like overall everyone has been flexible, supportive, and patient with all of the educational changes that needed to take place in order to provide a safe and healthy school for our community. Recently, several of our new spaces were featured in the Journal Times.
Check that out here:
Communication was sent out to Fox River Families about the transition to all students attending school five days per week, all day, starting on October 5th.
That information can be located here:

Please note that there will be a change to the pick-up procedures in the afternoon. Due to the high volume of cars that line up to wait for their student(s) to arrive, we have extended the wait line into Evergreen parking lot. This means that if you are one of the first cars to arrive that you should be parking and waiting on the other side of the Evergreen parking lot. Once your student arrives, please exit out of the driveway between the high school and Evergreen .
Please see that diagram here:

We appreciate all of the students respecting our mitigation practices. We know that mask wearing, disinfecting, and hand sanitizing will keep our building open for a longer period than without. Please continue to reinforce such practices with your student(s). Your support is extremely appreciated as we continuously work to create a safe and healthy environment.
Lastly, our District sent out communication on the decision to return all students on a daily basis to school to all of our WGSD families.
You can see that communication here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w0QV93dM4zhkDi0Lq93knjXbR7y3kq07TMtW9_KWGI8/edit?usp=sharing

Grade Level Updates!
8th Grade Updates
7th Grade Updates
It has been so great to have your students back at Fox River with us! They have been doing very well at adjusting to the new norms and being positive throughout the start to this year. As we move on to next week where we get to see all of our students five days a week, we encourage students to continue their practices of social distancing and respectful mask-wearing. Students should continue to check Google Classroom and their emails for class updates and reminders. The 7th grade team is thrilled to have all of these wonderful students for the 2020-2021 school year and we look forward to watching these young minds grow!

October Parent Teacher Conferences - A bit different for 2020
This school year we are going to have "Teacher Requested" parent teacher conferences on fall Oct 9th. These conferences will be virtual for safety due to COVID. Your child's teacher will reach out to you if they are requesting a conference. If you would like a conference and the teacher is not requesting one, please email them to arrange a virtual meeting time that works for both of you.
A letter was sent out on Wednesday , Sept. 30. Skyward will be visible and open for parents/guardians to request a meeting beginning on October 5.
Snacks, Birthday Treats, and Water Bottles
Students should bring a snack to school. Teachers will schedule a "snack break" for students based upon the grade level's schedules.
If you want to celebrate birthday's by sharing a treat with the class, the treat needs to be factory individually wrapped such as packages of animal crackers, pretzels, goldfish, or fruit. Sorry no large trays of cupcakes this year. Your student's teacher will also communicate if there are any allergies in the class you would need to be flexible with.
The water fountains (bubblers) have been replaced with bottle fillers at school. We are asking students to bring a water bottle each day to school for their personal use. Please make sure the water bottle can be securely closed to avoid spillage in the classroom. Teachers will support students filling their water bottle as necessary.
Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS)
Please take a look at the student kick off. On Oct 6 students will view this presentation along with video expectations for areas in the school. The presentation will introduce Fox River’s PBIS system with positive rewards, incentives, and behavior expectations:
